SciFi and Fantasy eBook Club discussion

I was wandering around Amazon and just saw that Tongues of Serpents by Naomi Novik is being released on July 13, 2010. Hurray!

I've read the rest of the series and now I just have to wait a few weeks for the next one ...

I've only read the first. I didn't realise until recently that is was a series. I thought it was a stand-alone. So, more books for the TBR !!

I started reading the first book and gave up after awhile. I'm not sure why: it has dragons, which is cool, and Napoleonic era naval action, which I loved in the Horatio Hornblower books; but for whatever reason this just didn't want to click with me. Perhaps the juxtaposition of fantasy and history didn't let me suspend my disbelief easily enough?

I normally don't enjoy alternative history, but this one I really enjoyed.
