Graypaw went around the camp again.
Nightpaw stumbled out of the den and blinked when the sunlight reached her eyes. Suddenly, she realized she slept in way too late.
Graypaw went over to her."You've been asleep for a long time." he said.
"Yeah," Nightpaw grumbled, "Why didn't you wake me up?" She regretted missing both the dawn patrol and the hunting patrol. She had promised her mentor that she'd go on at least one. I don't even deserve to eat the Clan's precious kill, she thought, shaking her head, ashamed.
Nightpaw shrugged, "We can't undo the past." She looked up, in thought for a split second, "I'm going hunting."
Nightpaw waited beside a tree, crouching. She detected a light thumping about five tail-lengths out, and slowly stalked fowards.
Graypaw waited a little bit behind, so she could handle it.
Nightpaw pounced suddenly, but was whiskers short. The toad let out an alarmed screech and hopped away. Nightpaw scrabbled to her paws and immediatly gave chase to the tiny creature. What seemed to be moons later, she finally caught up to it and pounced yet again. To her satisfaction, Nightpaw found she had made a rough kill. She raised her head to find that her surroundings had changed, and the air tasted different. Mouse dung. I must've chased that toad right into ThunderClan territory!
Fraypaw said ,"Wait! Come back!"
Nightpaw panicked for a split second, but managed to keep her fur down. She crept back in the direction of her territory, hoping no cat in ThunderClan would notice her or her scent.
Graypaw said, "Why'd you do that?"
"I didn't notice!" Nightpaw snapped, but quickly felt ashamed. "I really wanted that toad." She pawed it and picked it up in her jaws again. She started to head back to camp.
Graypaw shook his head and ran back to camp before nightpaw, wanting to get her into trouble.
Nightpaw stepped fowards with her head bowed. Icy claws gripped her stomach, and panick flooded her. If ThunderClan picked up her scent in their territory, a whole war could break out between their Clans, all because she chased a dumb toad out if her own territory.
Nightpaw decided to catch a squirrel and another toad before returning to camp, hoping it would help make up for what she did.
Nightpaw set down her catches on the fresh-kill pile and stood nervously, jumping at every sound around her.
Nightpaw dipped her head respectfully, relieved the deputy hadn't heard from Graypaw about her earlier incident. Suddenly, she started blabbing it all out without control. "Okay, it was me! I chased that mouse-brained toad into ThunderClan territory by accident! I'm sorry and deserve my punishment!" She hung her head in self-disappointment.
Nightpaw flattened her ears with guilt, "I accidently chased a toad into ThunderClsn territory without realizing it. I-I'm sorry."
"No," Nightpaw shook her head, "Graypaw was with me. At least I don't think any cat saw me. But my scent was left there." Shaking, she drew in a quivering breath.
"Then you shall care for the elders for seven days. Do not cross the boundaries again, young apprentice or your punishment will be more that seven days of elder duty. I also still expect you on the sunhigh patrol." Blackfrost said, looking at the apprentice through her cold, ice blue eyes.
Nightpaw dipped her head nervously, "Yes, Blackfrost." She rushed off towards the medicine cat den to retrieve the mouse bile for the elder's ticks.
Nightpaw finished removing the elder's ticks and limped out of camp to wash off the stench. "Ugh," she groaned, "Why does this stuff have to stink so much?"
Nightpaw returned to camp with a glum expression. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Graypaw snickering. "You want to try this?" she spat at him with a glare, and padded away.
Raventail sat near the fresh-kill pile.
((Dunno what to do.....))
((Dunno what to do.....))
Nightpaw trudged past Raventail. "Hi, Raventail..." she mumbled, a note of exhaustion coloring her voice. She'd had a long day.
"Hi," Raventail replied, staring after her. She wondered what was up, but decided not to ask.
Nightpaw dragged herself to her den and flopped down in her nest. Her eyes fluttered closed and she immediatly fell asleep.
Raventail shrugged, and decided to go hunting.
