Does anybody have any good sci fi or horror recommendations for comics that are out now and are new titles?
I'm thinking about reading Kick-Ass, after watching the movie I've been intrigued about the comic, so maybe I'll give it a shot.
I didn't even know that that movie was a comic book. I haven't seen the movie yet but have seen the previews and it looks really good.
Do manga count as comics? Or are you just after titles from the Marvel collections etc. Because if anyone's interested in manga titles I have dozens to share =D

I loved Absolute Boyfriend! Have you read any other series by the Mangaka? Like [book:Ceres: Celestial Legend, Volume 1: Aya|865029], Alice 19th, Volume 1: The Lotis Master? They were both good series.
Eric wrote: "for manga my favorite is naruto"I've never read Naruto either. Been meaning to. Same with Bleach.

u should read bleach, it's amazing
I guess most people interested in Graphic Novels would already know it, but I just read the Sandman-Series by Neil Gaiman - and I think it's brilliant. Such a complex universe, where everything is intertwined. And even though there's 10 volumes, you get the feeling that there are so many more tales Gaiman could have told. The world he creates feels so vast, and the characters are so complex, too. Also, there's nothing in the Sandman series that is either black or white - everything has at least two sides to it. I really loved it.

I'm into manga. I've read Ultra Maniac, Volume 1 (and all the other books in the series) Tokyo Mew Mew, Volume 1 (and watched the entire anime in Japanese with subtitles),Ouran High School Host Club, Volume 1 (planning to watch anime) and Pichi Pichi Pitch 1: Mermaid Melody (Pichi Pichi Pitch. Basicly I like shojo manga (manga for teenage girls.)

i'm absolutely in love with naruto i've read every chapter and watched 109 episodes that was before my mum stopped.i still read all the chapters diligently i'm waiting for chapter 532.pray for masashi i hope he's well
I'm not so much into manga as I'm a fan of good anime... movie or series! Anyway, I'm currently obsessed with "Blacsad"- a real eye- candy, beautifully designed and colored by Juanjo Guarnido and with an amazing storyline... Haven't been so much possessed by a comic book character since I've read Pratt's Corto Maltese(my personal favorite:)
Wow, so awesome that this topic is still up and going. I will soon have all my comics with me on the west coast :O) I couldn't believe how big my collection was until I had to find a way to ship it. So, I'd love to learn some of the titles that you comic fans enjoy. Are there any Hawkeye fans in here? Avengers? Does anyone know if NOW comics is still in business? What about new publishers, what ones should I be on the look out for and are any Horror comics only publishers?
Gonna get some comic reading going with my son soon. Does anyone here remember M.A.S.K. from the 80's M=Mobile A=Armored S=Strike K=Komand ? They were these awesome vehicles that had guns and armor on them and could change into other vehicles. All the figures had cool helmets and such.
Well, every now n then, I love to explore colorful and vivid world of comics and manga :)
I have been through very little of Comics but i have read fair bit of Manga's.. n I Digg both.. :)

Soul, you should see if any of the Manga authors have done adaptions of M.A.S.K. it's definitely the type of thing that they would redo. The toys to these comics came out way back when Transformers and He-Man type toys came out. If you look on Ebay there are people still selling the toys. The comics came out in the mid 80's. I was flipping through them and the ads made me laugh. Advertising has really come a long way since those days.
Steven, with your suggestion i did bit of research and Indeed they took on M.A.S.K. again in 2011. It was featured in New York Comic Con by Hasbro Toys. But as it happened i couldn't get hit onto further information as to whether they did produced it or not..
Another interesting thing was Ad's you mentioned.. and i must repeat what you said, "Advertising has really come a long way since those days."

I know this conversation was going on a year ago but it's cool that you found something on the M.A.S.K. series. I would have loved to see new toys or just remakes of the old ones. I am looking forward to a new toy coming out called Modari Cars. I backed these on Kickstarter and looking forward to playing with them soon.As for ads, yeah they've come a long way. I don't see many from bigger toy companies in the comics today. It's mostly new up coming comic ads and such and not many cause people want more story for their buck now.
