I usually read the back blurb & depend on my mood to pick which 1. If all else fails, I go eenie meenie miny moe. I agree, reading reviews can influence me.My recently acquired TBR & w/ higher priorities are in my room. Lotsa my keeper collections are also in my bedroom & closet, like my entire Laurey Bright, Daphne Clair, Sara Craven, Anne Mather, Mary Balogh, Madeline Hunter, Lisa Kleypas, Christine Feehan, Elizabeth Thornton, Jane Feather, Anne Stuart etc.

I either get in the mood for a certain author, or a setting, like London or Spain, Greece, etc...If I'm in a city mood I go for city-type plots, or if not I'll steer towards an island/beach-type story. The back blurbs help alot! So do the titles!

I usually choose first the authors I already know and I also choose those which have best reviews, in the internet.
I seem to read a review here and then go for that. Unfortunately, I can't read fast enough to keep up!!
I've given up trying to keep up w/ TBR skyscraper & some are a complete waste of time. I haven't been in a reading mode lately, so switched to my # 2 hobby, video-games. It's hard to pick v. good books to read, esp the new HPs aren't as alluring as the oldies =^B

My latest strategy is to read as soon as I find the book (either bought from ebay / UBS / found freebies @ local library), 'cuz otherwise they'll be 4gotten. The problem is, the ginormous # of recently-acquired books over-exceeds my limited reading time so it's a lost cause =P

I choose by the summary in the back, then I look at the author. If the story seems interesting, I'll read that first even though I may not know the author. However, if I know the author is not one whose writing style appeals to me, I'll leave those for later. Second step is to read online reviews because sometimes they reveal surprising tidbits that I wouldn't have expected and I wouldn't like. A lot of times reviewers will let you know if the hero has no redeeming qualities. I drop those like a hot potato and those go into the "never read" piles. Then I peak at the last chapter to see if I like the ending first.
I go by author. Automatic buys for me are: Millburne, Graham, Baird, Sarah Morgan, Abby Green, Lynn-Raye Harris. There is a new author: Michelle Conder. I've just read her first book and I loved it. Will be looking for her again - it's a book of the month this month. That was how I "discovered" Lynn-Raye Harris as well. Sandra Marton and Michelle Reid are also automatic buys for me.

I start one of two ways...1) with the summary, or 2) the goodread recommendation engine. Once I have a lead on a potential book, I vet it against other reviewers, starting with all of you. (You have been tremendously helpful) Based on the reviews, I either decide to ditch the book..or go ahead and read it. I also look at the author....Have I enjoyed other books..or is it an author I have not had much success with. I usually try to have 10 books ready to be read in my reader at anytime. From there I decide, where do I want to go today? Do I want to go to Spain, Greece, England, Italy, Australia? Do I want a sheikh, a billionaire, a sexy lawyer? ;- )
The one drawback of sticking to certain authors is that one neglects to learn about other authors.I've just found "new" authors : Julia James and Annie West. In future I will also make use of this site to select new authors.
I forgot to say that I love Jane Porter as well.

I have a totally complicated system! I'm trying to stay current as new books are released each month, so I start off with making a list of the new releases. Then I put them in a reading order based on how much I've liked the authors previous books and if it's part of a series I'm really enjoying. For authors that I've consistently rated below 2 stars or below, I remove them from the list all together. As the month goes on, I might remove some books from the list (especially those by authors that I'm only lukewarm about) if the reviews/ratings popping up on GR are bad.I also try to alternate between Presents, Desire and Blaze since their styles of common tropes are a little different.

Good systems, ladies.
I try to read around with most of my reading choices. I have my stable of favorite HP writers, but I like to throw in some new ones. I have gotten good new recs on this group, and I'm so grateful for that!

For me i read according to how then how much time i have. I love HP because normally i can read them in one setting. Plus they are so exciting i can not pit them down. Another way is place i love escaping to other places and viewing their culture.
These days, I look for recommendations in this group and then read the summary on goodreads. If I find the premise interesting, I go ahead and read it

The girls on here keep me in HP books. I have gotten so many just on recommendation on the group and by their reviews.

I don't have a good system. I have stacks of HPs around in my room, and I try to put the ones I'll read sooner nearby. But, I randomly grab titles that catch my interest, and I usually try to read my fave authors first. I've also gotten the urge to read HPs based on reviews.
What about you?
