Are You Crying?!?!

Ugh... I cry at the drop of a hat these days - I blame it on getting older, because I wasn't this bad in my 20s. Here's a sample of my tear-jerkers...Prey - Yeah, that one made me cry more than any other book
Magic Strikes - Derek...
Lover Revealed, Lover Avenged and Lover Mine - those males kill me
Carpe Corpus - just didn't see it coming
Shadow Kiss - another shock
Acheron - so much pain and torture
Vulnerable, Wounded and Bound - I thought I'd cried for Vulnerable while I read it, but spilled over into the next two books as well
Oh man yeah I totally cry at the drop of a hat, I've always been a big sap tho! LOL I cry at almost every book I read, some worse than others! Totally cried at the end of Moon Sworn! And the BDB books always give me a good cry! Glad I'm not the only one :)
Honestly, I am such a crybaby, books make me cry all the time. Maybe not a sobfest, but I get tears in my eyes on a regular basis. But books that I have been a blubbering, ugly-cry-faced idiot are:
Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber
Magic Strikes and Magic Bleeds
Lover Awakened
The Forest of Hands and Teeth and The Dead-Tossed Waves
The Book Thief
Jellicoe Road
The Notebook
Bridge to Terabithia
Cold Mountain
Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3)
Yep, I forgot about some of those. I cried for Jenks too. Also don't know how I forgot about some of the BDB ones. And Derek in Magic Strikes!Yeah, I don't know if it's age or what, but man, I just can't stop getting teary over books lately. I read so many sobbers in a row recently that I was exhausted and needed something light/funny to break it up.
Oh yeah, I cry all the time reading books. I think the shorter, more manageable list would be "Books that did NOT make me cry"... you think I am exaggerating, but I have been known to cry at TV commercials. But oh god, Jenks in Black Magic Sanction... I was crying my dang eyes out. I actually had to take a break.
LOL I used to (now overseas, so no sappy commercials now) get teary over those frickin' Hallmark commercials. The little grandma so happy when her grandchild/child "thought enough to send the very best" ...
And Jenks! LOVE him, so don't get me started about his last "ordeal". :*(
I just got teary at the end of
, which is kinda funny considering for most of the book I just wasn't feelin' the psy-psy pair. But, in the end, they won my heart, obviously.

"OMG Steph, do you remember the hallmark commercial with the teenage/twentyish daughter who's mom was dead and her giving her dad a card? I used to bawl every time I saw that one.
Only one book made me cry and that was
in the last scene that Dobi is in (I don't want to put a spoiler in her, but if you read it you know what I mean.)

I know, right?!!
I haven't read that one yet, Regina. I've seen all the movies, but only read up to book #4.
Steph books 5, 6 and 7 are very detailed, more involved and the best of the series! The scene that is very sad as I ubderstand it will not be included in the movie.
It won't be? Wow, that's really a bummer... Well, I guess less kleenex needed for the movie, but still... its a bummer to cut out that stuff. But yeah, I agree that 5, 6, 7 are great!
I have the audiobooks for the rest of the series (I believe), so it's just a matter of making time for them. :)
The most memorable book to make me cry was The Black Jewels Trilogy: Daughter of the Blood, Heir to the Shadows, Queen of the Darkness. The minute I finished I burst into tears and bawled for a good 10 minutes. I think I must've been saving it up throughout the book because it's just so emotional. It really tugs on your heartstrings.

They were my 1st foray into straight fantasy.
I checked out this anthology, Powers of Detection: Stories of Mystery & Fantasy, because it had a Sookie short in it. It also had an Anne Bishop short from the Black Jewels series, it was a story about Surreal, and I loved the concept of the world and the jewels equaling power levels and all that jazz, so I picked it up and the rest is history. :)
I might have to grab that anthology. That'd be a quick/easy way to find out if I'd like Anne Bishop's series or not.
Kindlelicious wrote: "And I really cried while reading Black Magic Sanction. Poor Jenks!!"No no no! I haven't read it yet and now I'm already upset thinking about poor Jenks. :(
I cried over Kirsten in that series too! It had me depressed for days.
Prey, Shadow Kiss and Acheron where hard ones for me too. I don't really remember Magic Strikes getting me worked up but Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs did.
LooLoo, I'm still hung up on Kisten! And OOPS, we gotta be careful about series spoilers. Hope we didn't give too much more than -poor, Jenks- away. :\

Marisella wrote: "When Marion is crying over a sad book, and she has to put a little stone on the table so that Lucivar knows he doesn't have to go kill anyone."Yes, this is awesome. :) It's been awhile since I read them, I forget the little stuff. Love Lucivar.
First thing you need to understand about the world is it is matriarchal, women rule, men serve. Awesome, huh? Of course, there are always some bad apples, and those women are cruel and have male slaves, including sex slaves. But if a woman is good, a man will do anything for her, and they consider it the most important thing in the world to protect their women.So...Marion is Lucivar's wife, and if she is reading a book and the book makes her cry, she devised a little signal for her husband--if I put this little rock on the table, it is because I read something that made me upset. No one hurt me, so you don't have to go kill anyone to avenge me.
Did that make sense? Lol.
Absolutely. I'm gonna have to find that anthology and read it soon (to see how I like it) ... women rule?! LOVE it!
Steph wrote: "Absolutely. I'm gonna have to find that anthology and read it soon (to see how I like it) ... women rule?! LOVE it!"well, I'm not sure an anthology would do you any good to get into this very complex world.
I cried about the incident with the kindred Khollie in Shalador's Lady. It's such a great book but a tear-jerker for me.
That doesn't really mean a lot as I have been known to cry over "Bambi" - the very old Disney movie. Come to think of it I seem to cry over a lot of animals?!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried at
! That was such a beautiful book, and the movie was pretty good also
I cried at the end of Shiver. It is a YA novel and I was looking of something to read after Twilight (yeah, I know.....). FORTUNATELY, Shiver reminded me nothing of Twilight and I thought it was a fantastic book!
I'm enjoying Shiver also, I'm just at about pg 130. My teens are chomping at the bit to get it when I'm done
I cried in Shiver and The Notebook. I cry in movies ALL THE TIME. I weeped like a baby for Avatar and cried for hours after Titanic. Dear John did me in too. I am a sentimental mush. :-/ Oh ya and Toy Story 3 lol.
Oh, I always tear up in the movies. No doubt.Ugh. I listened to Shiver and the reader drove me nuts. It got a low rating for me most likely b/c of how badly she turned me off. I might (some day) read the book and see if I feel differently about it.
I leak like a runny faucet gone bad over anything and everything.example: I just took my two kids to see Toy Story 3 in 3D and bold like a baby while my kids laught @ me.

I read Shiver and I didnt like it very much. I think if I read it again I could maybe love it but the first time just didn't do it for me.
I am surprised at the love/hate reaction to Shiver. Most people seem to either LOVE it or not like it at all! I loved it. One of my favorites so far this year. :)
Awesomevegan wrote: "I am surprised at the love/hate reaction to Shiver. Most people seem to either LOVE it or not like it at all! I loved it. One of my favorites so far this year. :)"I was reading a few other books while reading Shiver. Maybe that's why I didnt really get into it.
Awesomevegan wrote: "I am surprised at the love/hate reaction to Shiver. Most people seem to either LOVE it or not like it at all! I loved it. LOL Maybe one day, I'll give it another go and read it v. listen to it.
The only one that has had me full out, tearing through a box of Kleenex, moaning and sobbing and hiccoughing... was Hannah's Dream by Diane Hammond1 I am a sucker for novels about animals and this one had me crying through the last two chapters!
The only other book to make me cry like that was Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls that I read in grade 8, for school!

Lol I still remember seeing Titanic in the theater with my hubby & my best friend, and they were making fun of me because I was hard core crying--I remember trying to keep it under control but I was having a hard time catching my breath. And I too lost it at the end of Toy Story 3, but thankfully, my mom was with us and she was crying with noises, so the kids & I made fun of her instead. Lol. :)
Oh man, I'd forgotten about Titantic. Yeah, I was boohooin' too. "I'll never let go ...."A few people have mentioned TS3 is really sad. We're anxious to watch that one, now I gotta make sure to have tissues handy.

Oh you were one of the audiobook people? I was reading people commenting that the narrator sucked. There should be 2 anyway!

And, I used to be able to say that books didn’t make me cry, now ... not so much. I don’t know what’s going on, but lately it seems like I’m tearin’ up more and more while reading.
The culprits:
Prey
As The World Dies (3): Siege
Moon Sworn
Magic Bleeds
The Darkest Passion
Have you read a book that made you weepy?
