Hi guys! We have this similar thread in my other Goodreads group and I think it would be fun to list down your finds in one thread. I'm interested to know where people buy their books and what's available in those stores.

I'll start with my splurges for this month. I got the following from Fully Booked:
Not all at the same time though. I picked them up one at a time and Fully Booked is the only bookstore which has these books. Recently, I went to the POB (previously owned books) section of National Bookstore Cubao and picked up the following:
All for P200 only! :)
Would I enjoy spending hours there though? You know that only the YA section is the only section I go to if I am in a bookstore. hehe
Oh cool. I would definitely go there soon.Anyways these are my latest splurge:
And the hardcover edition of
The first three Anthony Horowitz books are available in the Cubao POB section for P30 each. :) My friend gave it to me last March.
Here's a picture of the books my friends gave me for my birthday and these were all from the POB section: http://pics.livejournal.com/chachic/p...
Ohhhh! I love NBS Cubao POB! If there ain't no good books at BookSale I always head there...I reckon that's where I got
by Stephen King for only 100 Hardcover First Edition...
Yeheey! ^_^
Aaron, yep that's why you should check it out! They don't always price their books that cheap. Other times the books cost around 100 for paperbacks and 250 for hardcovers.Jason, nice find! A first edition!

Agree! Kung minsan talaga pana-panahon...
NBS Cubao is the one of the places that gives me headache... Just the half of the floor takes me like two hours to scour for some good finds...
Ohhh... NBS Cubao...
CHACHIC: You're so lucky with your finds. I was just there last week and didn't find anything! But I got these:From Fully Booked
From Booksale
Celina, those are great finds in Booksale! What branch of Booksale did you go to?Bluemoon, did you get yours from Chapters?

Thanks Chachic, I got them at Booksale at SM Southmall. So far, that is my favorite branch here at the south.
Celina, no wonder it's your favorite. You've gotten some pretty good books there.Bluemoon, I would have to agree! Even though we always complain about availability over here, things have really gotten better ever since Fully Booked arrived on the scene. It's funny because my most recent blog post is about availability of books here: http://chachic.wordpress.com/2010/06/...

Wow Jzhun. Dami mong pera!Yesterday, I bought The Chocolate War (you rated this with 5 stars) at P15. BS North EDSA. Nakita kong hawak ng young girl at binabasa ang blurbs. Nakita ko na ito sa FB The Fort last month at P495 and I almost bought it because I had read your teasers while reading it or while you were still planning to read it. But since it is not 1001, I dropped it. Pero kahapon, I was repeating a mantra na sana bitawan nya, sana bitawan nya. ha ha ha. Binitawan nga!

Guilty! Though, i have less time to read now coz classes starts Tuesday. But whenever I have this urge to grab that book, i always reasoned that someday, I will have that time to read all those books and I actually have this vision of my own public library (God's willing) open to less fortunate kids who cant afford to buy books. So my buying now is sort of an investment for that dream. : )

Sa NBS SM Pampanga nga Renee. I saw it sa napakagulong display ng mga books! Nagulat nga din ako. Medyo tattered na kasi and may water damage yung bandang dulong pages, pocket book size. I think P300 ++ yung original price. Since its my first time to read Murakami..it will do.

Wala sigurong addicts sa libro sa may bandang yan sa Maynila. Kung dito yan sa QC, ubos agad yan! Hay, may hihiramin na naman ako sa yo, Ace.

@Kuya Doni: I highly recommend The Chocolate War! I guess this one of 'em books that makes you wanna grab the closest people around you and shove it on their face and say "You gotta read this!" I dare say Cormier really set the bar how we look at YA right now. It may not be included in the 1001 Books but it definitely paved the way for the YA Genre the respect it has right now.As one critic noted Cormier was the one who put literature in the YA Literature category.
I read on a thread somewhere that you're past those books with exciting plot and all, I say this one has a fast-paced writing, the twists will make you aghast, and ending will devastate you. You'll suddenly think about yourself and the world around you if what the novel told is truth or not.
But for me what made me give it 5 stars is its challenging theme that starts with this equally challenging question:
Do you dare disturb the universe?

We have the same dilemma today, I'm reading "Written In Bone" by Simon Beckett and I don't know why I can't imagine what I'm reading and after reading a chapter, I really can't tell what happened in that chapter.
@Ace and Bluemoon: I guess the both of you might have a reader's burn out syndrome. Well then my advice is to steer clear of reading. I always felt that from time to time. What I do is I just watch films on dvd so that I'll miss reading. And that's the antidote to that I think, you must feel that you "miss" reading...
K.D. wrote:Wala sigurong addicts sa libro sa may bandang Maynila..."
I disagree, kuya. I'm from Sta. Cruz Manila. :)
However,I mostly purchase my books at SM north & Trinoma especially if the book I'm looking for is only available at fully booked or Powerbooks. :P
For this week:
I bought them all at booksale in SM San Lazaro. :)
