Ethan *sigh* He is like the modern/vampire version of Mr. Darcy and I LOVE it. The descriptions of him leave my mouth watering and my eyes turning silver!I trust his motives (at least for now). I think he has always put Cadogen first because he never had to make a choice before. With Merit on the scene, he is going to be forced to re-examine his priorities - a powerful, handsome man brought to his knees by love. Sweet!
I also think that he is very used to being actively chased by women. Although they have an obvious physical attraction, he takes Merit's antagonism and unwillingness to be his consort in that she doesn't care for him. He doesn't understand the insult and he doesn't recognize the depth of his own feelings. With regards to letting Morgan court her, he thinks he is doing Merit a favor. He was surprised when she finally showed her hurt in the library.
I am really hoping Twice Bitten has more Ethan. When I read Friday Night Bites, I actually skimmed all the other interactions, just reading Merit/Ethan scenes, until I got to the library. Moderately satisfied for the moment, I returned to the beginning and read it properly. I know I'll do the same with TB :)
that was a perfect explantation of ethan. 8)
i usually do that wit most of my books, but i simply cannot resist skipping to chapter 8. i must try hard not to this time, will take so much power to do so.

Love him... Have to agree with KC the description of him makes me sigh and mouth water..I think he needs to learn to deal with his feelings for Merit instead of hiding behind his attitude and pretensions.. They make a good couple but he has to be willing to relax a bit and let her in..
I am glad that he finally understands that he hurt Merit over the Morgan thing and look forward to seeing them sort it out in this book..
I think we definitely need to know more about Ethan. We don't really have a good grasp of his character right now, except for some hints at his past. I can't wait until he's more comfortable with Merit, and he reveals a thing or two! I'm sure he and Merit will have plenty of issues to suss out, more than enough for eight books. LOL. Don't you guys love it when his eyes flashed in the abandoned house? *_*

There are so many things about Ethan that I am dying to know. I really want to know more about his past. Also, about that relationship he used to have with the other house vampire that he was supposedly in love with. I can't remember her name! I also want some more details about when he was turned!

yea. that's one thing i really wanna knoe, ethan's past. i mean he is quite a mystery. we dont really knoe much about him, i'd also like to hear more about the woman he was rumored to care for, lacey.
Since the books is in Merit's POV, then we are going to have to hear it from Ethan himself. Maybe he'll get drunk one night and spill? That would be hil-ar-ious!

Yes, Ethan is so reserved! I would love to see him drunk out of his mind! ha ha

Even better, drunk off blood. Is there such a thing as "blood drunk" in the books? Would he be charged-up/aggressive?
Merit was kinda drunk the first time she drank like 3 things of blood.. So maybe there is if you drink alot at once.. Other then that no clue since all the other series says that vamps can't get drunk..
Deb wrote: "Merit was kinda drunk the first time she drank like 3 things of blood.. So maybe there is if you drink alot at once.. LOL
And Deb is right, Merit got a bit tipsy after she had blood the first time.
From what I am understanding any vamp that participates in the raves aren't very good characters anyway so that would be a good poitn..
Night Huntress vamps can get drunk, it just takes a lot more alcohol. Merit did get blood drunk in SGB, didn't she? I thought there was something about the champagne in FNB too. I lent my books to a friend last week and so I can't check to be sure.
i knoe that she was kinda whoosie in the beginning of SGB. but i dont think that she was blood drunk in FNB. she did drink from ethan's wrist in FNB but she was completeing the change.
The Blood drunk was from SGB (that first time when Mallory found her). It isn't called blood drunk, and I can't verify it. The comment about champagne going to her head was in FNB.
i liked that scene where he confirmed that he did drug her and he was like "i didnt want you to feel it,merit"
We knew something was off about Merit's change but I never expected Ethan to admit to drugging her.. I liked that side of him.. Its nice knowing that he has a soft side that can occassionally come out.. I think that will be his saving grace with Merit..
i knoe. i didnt expect that. i thought it was sweet in a way, that he didnt want her to feel any of the pain.
You think? I mean we know he is a control freak (I love that, honestly) but if he hasn't given drugs to anyone else is that really it?
new_user wrote: "Heck yes. I don't care if he saved the drugs especially for Merit, that's not healthy, LOL."LOL - I think its perfectly healthful! :) But seriously, why would he save the drugs only for Merit?
I don't think it was a control thing although I will agree he is a bit of a control freak. You'd have to be to be a Master. But I think he gave her the drugs because she didnt choose to change and he wanted to spare her pain. I also think there was a bit of guilt behind it. He and Malik were in the quad that night not by accident. They might not have known what was going to happen but ended up cleaning up the mess anyway.
i dont think it was in a control freak sort of way.i think he honestly wanted to spare her the pain she would be in since she didnt consent or anything. we all knoe how she so didnt want this at the beginning but accepted her fate.
i think he was drawn to her when he first saw her if when he first saw was when she was attacked, we dont knoe for sure. i think there is more to ethan. there's so much about him that we do not knoe.

I think he wanted to spare her the pain too. I think when he first saw her he had an immediate attraction and connection with her.
Mariya and Meredith and Stacey - This is what I thought too.I thought it was weird that out of all the vamps he has turned he tried the drugs with Merit. That could signify feeling from him he has never experienced before (there is no emoticon for wiggling your eyebrows!)
If he's such a control freak why does he not know that there are traitors in his house? Amber? Peter?

I see your point but he can't be everywhere at once. I think he must be feeling really betrayed after having so many traitors in his house. Interesting how he trusts Merit... there is definitely a special bond there.

yea. he has so much to watch over already and he assumes that he gives all of his vampires everything and they should be grateful and all. but hopefully he's cautious now but i knoe that he has to trust merit. i mean, she was like the best thing that has happened.
I'm torn. I think I'll be swayed by how Merit feels on him since we only get her perspective. Mr. Darcy had to win me over too. (I would've held a longer grudge if he said I wasn't handsome enough to tempt him.)

I like that we see him care about his House vampires so much and look after them so diligently. A lot of the times you'll see alphas or leaders without seeing cause for their leadership.
I know that it doesn't match up with the rangy David-Beckham look-alike description, but for some reason, Ethan always looks like Julian Sands to me (That is the Julian Sands back in the day - A Room with a View style). http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia...
Mariel wrote: "Oooh Julian Sands was so hot back in the '80s."I am so glad someone remembers....while all the other middle-schoolers were dreaming about Michael J. Fox, I was dreaming about George Emmerson!
I have a hypothetical question because it doesn't mention anything in the books, but WHO do you think Ethan is drinking from now that Amber is gone? I would love to beleive he has been abstaining, sticking to the little juice boxes, but that doesn't seem very Ethan-esque to me.
LOL. I think you're right. He wouldn't abstain. I'm curious about that too. What if it was that elderly woman who's their sort of secretary? LOL!
new_user wrote: "LOL. I think you're right. He wouldn't abstain. I'm curious about that too. What if it was that elderly woman who's their sort of secretary? LOL!"LOOL that would be hilarious! I would imagine Helene the secretary (or something like that)
OMG it is totally the secretary! ha ha! I doubt he is abstaining. I am sure there are plenty of volunteers! The other ladies in Cadogan are always throwing themselves at him!
