Lulu,
Just FYI- You can only nominate one for the award winners and then you can nominate one book of choice, so you'd have to separate your nominates into the 2 categories.
Jeannie, Fiona won't count your nomination unless you write which category each book fits, the title and the author.
Do Newbery Honor books count as award winners? If so, my nominations are...Award Winner: Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin
Other: Peter Pan (aka Peter and Wendy) by J.M. Barrie
Here are my two picks:Award Winner/Newbery in 2006:
Criss Cross by Lynne Rae Perkins
Other (actually a Newbery Honor Book)
Olive's Ocean by Kevin Henkes
Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson Scott O'Dell Historical Fiction Winner & National Book Award Finalist
Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper
Thanks Angela!:) My two new official picks are both Newbery Honor/Winner books:
Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village by Laura Amy Schlitz (Winner)
and Saavy by Ingrid Law (2009 Honor)
I don't have any nominations. I'm just excited to see a lot of books on here that I've never heard of!

Just FYI- The group read Graceling in November.
1.2009 Aurealis Awards best young adult novel Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld2.Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins
I have no interest to read any of the two so I will sit this one out. I still have to catch up on my other reads so this works out for me! I hope you guys enjoy it otherwise!!!
They both look good, and I am sure they are, but I have a lot of catching up to do and these just aren't a must read in my head!
I love Scott Westerfeld! I started Leviathan awhile ago but started it regretfully the day before I had to return it to library so I've only read the first 50 pages or so. I am excited to finish it. The beginning was really good. I haven't read The Golden Compass, but I have seen the movie which was okay. I'm going to read it, hopefully it's a good one.
I agree. I didn't really like the movie, although it was neat to see it in live action. I didn't like Nicole Kidman in it.
Great picks. Neither were on my TBR list, but to me, that is what this is all about - stretching myself to read outside my box!

Award winner: Looking for Alaska (In your Pants!!!!! [Sorry... I had to... Nerdfighters!!!:]- John Green (Has this group read that one yet? If we have, can I pick another one?
Other: I was going to nominate An Abundance of Katherines, but since I've already got a John Green down, I think I want to go with something a bit smaller. Can I nominate Harmonic Feedback by Tara Kelly? Its new and pretty small, but it's gotten great reviews and just looks amazing. I doubt many of us have read it. It would be really cool to have a brand new book on the list!
There are so many other books I would nominate. I almost chose A Little Wanting Song, but I have already read that... And even though it was chat worthy, I want to read something new! (Not that I don't read new things all the time....)
Oh well... I'm ranting...
