i liked how the new version had a story line with a plot and conflicts, even though that makes it more unlike the book
That's true, it really wasn't meant to be just like the book though, it isn't the book. I love the idea of conquering fears and the fun and imagination it has. I love it!
I loved the new Alice in Wonderland, I especially liked how it was not the same story. I really enjoyed it, maybe even a little more than the cartoon one.
I thought the movie lacked music and more mellow passages (like the meeting between Alice and the Hookah-Smoking Caterpillar)...
I absolutely loved the songs from the cartoon and a few would have been great in the movie. Tim Burton did it fantastically (I'm a big fan!) in the barber of Fleet street, he should have done it here too!

I don't mean the same songs, new ones (and better than that weird dance number at the end) anybody else thought that was a bit odd?
I didn't like that either, my family was laughing at the dance, but I didn't think that it fit the story, the music was too "modern" I guess. I just didn't like that.
