4shared has always been strongly against copyright infringement. You can distribute, display and share original works only if you are a copyright owner of holder. Uploading a file to 4shared you agree that it no way violates copyright law otherwise you may bear public, civil or criminal responsibility.

Kudos to 4shared for their stated policy.

This may also be of interest to some. It can be found in 4shared's terms of use under 'Acceptable Use'. Although it says "pornography and other forbidden materials", if you read the whole thing you will realize that this includes items that infringe copyright.

"Please, do not store the pornography and other forbidden materials! The confirmed infringer will be reported to the appropriate legal authority. If you do not want to have big troubles you should not upload any kind of illegal materials. The identification won't be difficult - your ISP will be informed as well. Most ISPs apply a penalty actions to the clients that break their agreement by delivering the pornography etc. So it is for sure you will get a serious punishment. "
