While we all wait for Mead's next and last Vampire Academy Book to finally see what happens between Rose, Dimitri, and Adrian.

Why don't people share some other series they have been enjoying, why some of us might like it too, and maybe a little teaser blurb.

Lets try to be respectful of each others choices. One person's trite story is another person's favorite.

I don't squeal in real life but for info on Mead's books I would do a mental squeal.

http://blue-succubus.livejournal.com/...

On another note, she changes her hairstyle a lot o.0 it's confusing.

http://www.openroadmedia.com/authors/...

PS, Mead posts some of her favorite books and movies at the bottom of the second link which is the video short from the first link. I actually got Mists of Avalon on my shelf and saving that for a rainy day book when I don't have any other books borrowed from the library. Dragonlance is a great series based on D&D Style Fantasy world, I hope Mead does a take on that someday. Knights, Wizards, Elves, and Dragons will always be my first book love, even though someone special introduced me to the new Urban Fantasy realms. They have done remarkably well these past years, unlike the disappointing Urban Fantasy from the 90's.

And omg! I just noticed that Succubus Revealed is going to be the last book of her 6 book Kincaid Series. I actually feel more heartsaddened by that then VA ending :(

I wonder if Mead likes 6. Sure it doesn't drag the story out too long, a little build up, some background, and then end it with leaving the reader wanting more. 6 is a pretty mystical number and Mead has shown herself to be quite learned, I wonder if it has a significance.

I can't imagine you squealing, that would be interesting to see.
Girls tend to change there hair style alot, the same thing can be tiring. ALso we like to rearrange rooms for the same reason.
It's good how planned you are, thinking ahead is very clever.
Ahh it's so sweet that you have somebody special in your life. :)
Either six is her lucky number or she can't think of anything else after six. Maybe she doesn't want to drag on a book series. Wow if your more hearsaddened on that then VA then it really must be a good book series. Lol I re read your last paragraph and I pretty much said the same thing, so just ignore the ''draging the book series out'' comment. SHe probally doesn't think that it drags the book series out, but she doesn't want people getting bored with the same thing over and over again.

I like books that focus on character development. With the Kincaid series, her past slowly unravels one book at a time. As events in her life start colliding, it unearths things she would rather leave in the past or things she didn't even know. A good author will use that and have her past drive her present, and hopefully culminating to some dramatic future, good or bad, happy or sad. Happily ever after isn't always the best way to end a series.

VA was great, it was actiony, romantic, you got to know the characters, but most of what you needed to know about Rose, you learnt in the first book. Sure she learnt some lessons along the way and grew but she was well too perfect. Other than a rebellious teen, stubborn, and too direct, she didn't have a screwed up life. Kincaid, BlackSwan, and Rachel Morgan series have a lot of issues for them to deal with. You also don't get to see much of Rose's past. She has no real past to drudge up besides the accident. Dimka's past could have came back to haunt the two of them but it was isolated to just Tasha, which was pretty amusing by the last book.

I guess richelle mead felt like she shouldn't have Rose live in the past and instead move on in the present and work up to the future after the first book.
The Mortal Insturments had a good use of the past driving the present, you were always trying to solve a mystery in the book. Always wondering, always guessing, always frustrated.
Is there anything you didnt like about the Kincaid series?

Hrm, most of the supporting characters had shallow personality. I'm not sure what the book would be like if Mead did for everyone, what she did for Kincaid, but they were shallow.

Some parts of the books were hard to get through because they'd flush your face. Although with some of the other series I've read on the top 2011 Urban Fantasy list, it makes Kincaid's pretty tame.

I found it frustrating all the problems in interpersonal relationships caused by a lack of communication! That has always been my pet peeve. Just talk to each other damnit, stop assuming, and making half-assed decisions on poor conjecture.

There wasn't anything REALLY mystical. She referenced a lot of lore. But it could have just as easily been regular people with an interest in studying the arcane and getting into trouble. Although sometimes that's what is good about a book. Regular life with a layer of stretched imagination covering it to make it more interesting. I just wish Mead had done more to weave it in so that it mattered and not just background.

The puzzles weren't that deep. You'd spend most of the books thinking, hrm it could be 1 of 3 things, and then you keep reading and find out which it is. You read one book after another and think, hrm 1 of 3 things is probably driving it and then you find out what it is. I think I know what's driving the 6 books. Feels like a cliche I've seen before.

I thought you said clean language, that is not clear language. Richelle is kind of a new author, not completly but it's not like she's written as much as nora roberts (not sure if that's the author i'm thinking) and so it will take her a while to build more ideas for puzzles and inside details for her readers.

what's not clean?

{H=(a)+H=R}-{Sun}-{MaY} | 1109 comments Mod
Maybe a member of this group finds damnit a dirty word.

Arekusu | 210 comments Mod
Jeesh that's like stoking the fires of an asocial person :D

If a person has a problem with a perfectly normal word being demonized by a bunch of zealot puritans or overly political correct censors with nothing better to do then foolishly try to change the way people naturally think. Then that's their own silly, misguided, and futile crusade.

When I said keep things clean, I was referring to keeping things below Rated R.

{H=(a)+H=R}-{Sun}-{MaY} | 1109 comments Mod
But arekusu, it's not respectful to those who do think that it's a bad word. They can't help with how they were raised. Calling somebody silly and misguided isn't exactly nice either. I can see you think strongly of this but can we think strongly of it and be kind at the same time?
