Cyrus opens tomorrow, I can't wait to see it! I think it looks funny and I adore Catherine Keener.

Nadia A (bagambo) I have to admit that I am looking forward to Eclipse. It should be a fun film and I'm excited.

Would you believe that I have not only not read the Twilight Saga but also have not seen any of the books? Those might make some good summer reading... do you think?

message 4: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) The Twilight series are definitely a good summer read. They are just silly, fun books that are not that well written, but definitely do the trick of being a good beach read. A good way to escape, which is what the movies are like.

Perfect! Exactly what I'm looking for.

message 6: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 113 comments I second the Twilight books! They are fun, easy reads that you can get caught up in. Funny how we go back to talking about books even on a movie thread!

I am looking forward to seeing Eclipse, the last two books were my faves so I am excited to see what they have done with the movies. I'm also looking forward to The Last Airbender, the newest from M. Night Shamalan (sp?)

Nadia A (bagambo) Hi Zoe! Eclipse was my favorite book out of the series, too! Can't wait to see it!

Ok, I need to get reading so I can enjoy these movies in the theater.

Oooh, what's the Airbender about? I'm bad with scary, but I loved The Village (is that what it's called?). The one where they weren't allowed to leave their town. I had to watch it during the day, though. Haha!

message 9: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 113 comments To tell you the truth, I'm not exactly sure what it's about! I love most of his movies, though, especially Signs and The Village. This one looks more sci-fi/fantasy than thriller.

message 10: by Carin (new)

Carin Oh those Twilight movies. I spent money on the first....refused to pay for the second. They are so bad! Lots of my friends like them though--there's something for everyone!

I am looking forward to buying Book of Eli. That movie was awesome! I actually don't know what's coming out this summer. I've been watching Farscape and The Dresden Files on Netflix Instant Watch. Love them both. Merlin is my favorite show on TV right now. :)

message 11: by Ti (new)

Ti (bookchatter) | 13 comments There are two movies that I am excited about seeing this summer but they are already out on DVD. I never got to see them in the theater.

The first is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It was only in L.A. for a very short time and with weird show times to boot. I am looking forward to seeing it as I heard it was very good.

The other is The Road. Same story as above. Came and went with a very limited release. I loved the book but I'm sure it was a difficult book to turn into a film.

Also, to be honest with you, I don't like to go to the movies anymore. It's too expensive and people drive me nuts with their talking and texting. Totally ruins it for me.

I want to see The Girls with the Dragon Tattoo as well, Ti. Carin saw it and said it was great! It's playing at a theater here in the westside but I'm too afraid to go alone to a (probably somewhat empty) theater and watch it since I know it will be creepy. It comes out on July 6th to DVD and a few days later the sequel is going to hit theaters. I just read that in Entertainment Weekly... they did a spread about it. I'm posting about it on Monday to see what people think.

I saw the movie twice in theaters. Both times it was actually fairly full which surprised me because typically foreign films don't seem to pack the seats in the theaters.

I just saw Inception last night. Definitely a cool movie!

message 15: by Donalyn (new)

Donalyn | 1 comments The Last Airbender is based on the Avatar cartoon series (no connection to the Avatar movie). The series is very popular with kids, including my 11-year old daughter. Many fantasy tropes: battle between good and evil, kids with special powers, a hero's journey, etc. We olan to see it tomorrow.

Is anyone else annoyed that the new Harry Potter movie is in 3-D? I am sick of the whole 3-D trend...

message 16: by Ti (new)

Ti (bookchatter) | 13 comments I cannot handle 3-D! It's not special anymore if everyone does it.

Wallace | 303 comments Mod
It is?! Will that be weird? 3-D Harry Potter... that doesn't fit in my head at all. I haven't been to any of the newer 3-D movies (i.e. I haven't been to one since the 80's where you had to wear the glasses and they didn't really work). How does that work? Is it in a special theater? Do you have to wear the glasses?

By the way, please check out the picture here: http://literarymusings-blog.blogspot....

Talk about bringing HP to life, that's almost exactly what I expected Butterbeer to look like. And now I want one!

message 19: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) Wallace - I checked out that link and yummy! I want one!

As far as 3-D movies - what is that about? It doesn't interest me in the least and only serves to annoy me at the thought that HP will be in 3-D. UGH!!

Eclipse was my fav of the series... still haven't watched the movie! I was waiting for the die hard twifans to empty the theater but.. I guess I waited too long... I don't know if its showing in theaters anymore?

message 21: by Wallace (new)

Wallace | 303 comments Mod
Yeah, I don't think it's showing in my area anymore.

Are any of you going to see Eat, Pray, Love (and have you read it)?

I've read it, and I really liked it, though India was slow for me. I got invited to a free screening of it so will probably go, but otherwise I think I might have waited to see it until the DVD comes out. I'm not thrilled with their choice of Julia Roberts as Elizabeth Gilbert, but I'm probably in the minority on that one.

message 23: by Ti (new)

Ti (bookchatter) | 13 comments I was planning to read it but I saw Gilbert on Oprah when it first came out and she seemed like a bit of a dingbat!! LOL. I will probably wait until it's on DVD unless a friend strong arms me into going.

message 24: by Wallace (new)

Wallace | 303 comments Mod
Did she really? I'm surprised! I highly enjoyed her second book... more than EPL probably. I've only seen one short interview with her on the Internet, though. I will look up the Oprah one and see if they still have it available.

message 25: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) They just showed a rerun of the EPL ep on Oprah with Julia Roberts and Gilbert. Like Ti, I wasn't really impressed by Gilbert. I'll probably catch the movie on dvd or when they show it on Lifetime (which I'm sure they will in due time). I tried reading it when COL had a group read of it, but I just couldn't get into it as much as I tried to. I just couldn't engage with her and felt no empathy. Oh well.

You did?! Too bad I missed it!
