Will Patton reads James Lee Burke's books on audio in Burke's Dave Robicheaux series. When I picture Dave's character, I see Will Patton in my mind. They once made a movie from one of the series and Alec Baldwin starred as Dave Robicheaux. It just wasn't right. As I love all things Cajun and lived in Louisiana for several years, listening to Burke's series always takes me back. Robicheaux is a flawed character easy to relate to.

Jan | 2 comments I also enjoy the Dave Robicheaux series in audio. Actually, I prefer to listen to books cause it gives me more time to read - on the way to/from work, while gardening, working out, etc.

One of my most favorite series in audio: The Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series - excellent to listen to. Johanna Parker does a great job on all of the voices - and the characters come to "life"! Fun, addictive series - highly recommend. I just finished the last book - I read/listened to them in quick succession, and I'm feeling a void now.

I've just finished the 7th book in the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson - also good in audio.

Will be interested to hear other's favorites...

Rita (ritalc) I have never read any James Lee Burke, but I recently rented a movie called "In the Electric Mist" based on one of his books, with Tommy Lee Jones as Dave Robicheaux, and really liked it. Should these books be read in order or can I jump in anyplace?

I also recently read the first Sookie Stackhouse book. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I'd suggest starting at one of his earlier books, since they do build upon one another, and Dave's life, family and friends also grow and change.

They are very readily available thru libraries and bookstores.

Jayne (libragyrl) | 1 comments I love, love, love listening to audio books... mysteries are my thing. James Patterson, Michael Connelly, John Sandford, Dean Koontz, Janet Evanovich... I am working on the Alex Cross series... have done all but Double Cross and Trial. I am also working on Women's Murder Club, have read 1-3 but, I have up to 8 on audio. Started Plum series, have only read One but, just received box set with 1-3. Looking to get into the Sookie Stackhouse series True Blood shows. Also, I like Lisa Lutz.. Spellman series... great humor there, I'm on her 2nd, Curse of the Spellmans. Enjoy Alex McCord Smiths, No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series... got into it from the HBO series. I like the new series Rizzoli & Isles so, I am looking to start some of Tess Gerritsen's series.
