Briansgirl "Master Book Sale Huntress" wrote: "I would recommend The Secret by Julie Garwood. Over the years I've read it 5 times."I love The Secret and The Bride by Julie Garwood is great too.
Also The Love Slave by Bertrice Small
Just because I know it has to be said... A good historical romance? There is no such thing. But if you are going to punish yourself, Victoria Dahl's A Rake's Guide To Pleasure isn't completely terrible.
The Magnificent Rogue by Iris Johasen
; Honor's Splendour by Julie Garwood
and Calndle In the Window by Christina Dodd
all of these are very good!
I'm a big historical romance reader so feel free to check out my historical romance shelf. But here are a few of my favorites:
A Summer to Remember
Lord of Scoundrels
Lady Sophia's Lover
I love historical romance and have so many favorites it's hard to choose what to recommend, but I'll try.;-)Always to Remember or Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath
Annie's Song by Catherine Anderson
The Duke by Gaelen Foley
My False Heart by Liz Carlyle
A Rose in Winter by Kathleen Woodiwiss
Someone to Watch Over Me by Lisa Kleypas
The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt
Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
A Bed of Spices by Barbara Samuel
Touched by Fire by Kathleen O'Reilly
See, I told you I couldn't stop.;-) Except for Lord of Scoundrels (I didn't care for the first two books and they have very minimal connections), I've tried to recommend the first book if it is part of a series. In fact, IMHO, you can't go wrong with most of these authors. With the exception of only a couple of them, all of their books have been winners for me.
I'll second Outlanderand Lord of Scoundrels and addAgain The Magic by Lisa Kleypas
Secrets of a Summer Nightby Lisa Kleypas
A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught
Like Briansgirl & Fran, I'd recommend Julie Garwood ... her hero are strong but often flawed and she's funny Below are some of my favorites like the Secret, the Bride, the Wedding ...
I really liked
. I like Lisa Kleypas overall, she writes historical and contemporary.
is on of my favorites by Kathleen Woodiwiss. I read all of hers years ago. Her heroines tend to be a little young though.
by Julie Garwood are all amazing! I just discovered this author, and she's now one of my all time favorites! Seems like I'm not the only one, lol!
and
by Loretta Chase are light and fun, and very well written..
by Meangan McKinney is one of my favorite books as well..And Gaelen Foley's Knight Miscellany series, starting with
, is absolutely amazing!Otherwise, anything my Lisa Kleypas, Liz Carlyle, Celeste Bradley, or Teresa Medeiros
Danielle wrote: "I absolutely loved The Other Boleyn Girl. Its one of my favorite historicals."I have that book
by Johanna Lindsey is also a great book:-) set between Kansas and Texas in the Wild West days:-) I found it thorougly enjoyable!
I read Marsha Canham's Robin Hood series years ago and thought they were excellent Historicals.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon definitely. I you don't mind a bit of fur, one must not miss The Passion by Donna Boyd.A Knight in Shining Armor is a time travel historical romance. One of my favorite.
If one loves historical novels, one must definitely read the following:Outlander
The Passion
A Knight in Shining Armor
My Outlaw
^_^
My all time favorite historical romance is Wild Swan by Celeste De Blasis. You can follow this up with Swan's Chance and Season of Swans, A.
Sandy wrote: "I would suggest either Dragonfly in Amber or Outlander by Gabaldon"I totally concur!! the Outlander series is by far my favorite epic romance series!! It's been the most amazing ride and I'm only on the 4th book out of 7! They are long but never tedious and the story is so rich and inspiring that it never gets old. You grow to love these charcters as family and they never fail to surprise me of the depth of feeling for each other! I highly recommend Diana Gabaldon for anyone looking for historical romance!

"I have them on my TBR list
if u want to try a new indy historical romance just released in Jan I reccomend Difference of Hearts by Aileene Pollard
You really can't go wrong with Lisa Kleypas. Here are a few others I really liked...
Uh oh, I'm getting carried away, I tend to do that.
I've always had a little obsession with Jennifer Ashley's books. I got hooked on The Highland Pleasures series a few months ago. It was too good! :) You might want to try it out!!
May I suggest Fiji: A Novel, our historical adventure-romance?Susannah came to convert the heathens, Nathan came to sell muskets to them. There's conflict ahead.
Set in 19th Century Fiji, this novel befits the era with gritty, realistic action for male readers and a strong romance for female readers. It seems to resonate with reviewers...
“Fiji: A Novel is a perfect combination of romance and action,” according to The Kindle Book Review; “A gripping and graphic story of historic Fiji,” says Great Historicals; “I give it 5 stars because that's the maximum allowed," says Random Writings Book Reviews, of Suva, Fiji; and acclaimed author Susan Heim calls it “an intense story that will have you turning the pages long into the night."

This novel was co-written by son James and I after several research trips to The Friendly Isles (Fiji). We also co-authored the top rated conspiracy thriller series, The Orphan Trilogy, which also features an interracial romance.
Happy reading! -Lance Morcan
You MUST read a book called Skye O'Malley by Bertrice Small. This book is the first in a series of books and it is an amazing read. The word steamy, does not accurately describe the relationships between Skye and her suitors. It takes you back to the period of Queen Elizabeth with detailed description of food, dress, etc. You will not be disappointed!
