I would prefer July 24/25, or August 27-29. Shelter would be fine, and by then the weather should be pretty consistently sunny.
I vote for August, because July 25th is my birthday... although I could bring Mom along with me to book group. That would be pretty awesome, really!
Last weekend of August is the Portland Zine Symposium, so that's out for me. I've got nothing planned on July 24th or 25th yet. I'm also free on the weekend of August 7th/8th and August 14/15. The Priest Point shelters that are currently open are on July 25th (shelter #3 all day) and evening hours in shelters 2 & 3 on Saturday, August 7th, Sunday August 8th & Sunday August 15th. Shelter 1, which is the one we had for the last meeting, is a little cushier and fills up pretty quickly.
Well, my mom's gonna be in town for the 7th/8th. I could bring her, but my selections might be a bit more conservative. :) I'll be out of town for the 14/15. It would be fun to have bookgroup on J's bday weekend. ;)
I'm not available the last weekend of August or the 25th of July. Sundays in general aren't very good for me - too many other competing activities like brunch and bike rides and knitting group. But I'll try to make it work.
How about Friday August 6th or Saturday, August 7th? Here's current shelter availability...
Friday
shelter 2, 4-9pm
Saturday
shelter 2, 6-9pm
shelter 3, 5-9pm
Friday
shelter 2, 4-9pm
Saturday
shelter 2, 6-9pm
shelter 3, 5-9pm
I'm working Saturday that weekend, but would be available after 5:30 or so on Saturday, anytime on Friday. Again, you'd all get to meet my mom. ;)
I'll probably miss this one. I'm unavailable the last weekend in July (31) and first in August (6-8)
Okay, I just reserved shelter #2 at Priest Point for Friday, August 6th from 5-9pm. As an FYI, Patty May has also offered up her waterfront house that she's in the process of remodeling for future events- it's on Black Lake. You might all be ready for a bar or restaurant after this second summer book potluck, but I wanted to mention her kind offer. Marlys and Maura have both offered their houses up as well, so we can talk about where we want to meet next at Priest Point! Hope to see you all there!
I won't be there but I'll be thinking of you-all. I, sadly, will be vacationing in San Francisco. Have fun and let's be somewhere on the water for September's book group meeting.
August reportback... The weather, once again, was not awesome, and our shelter smelled like pee, and there was no grill nor was there any charcoal, but we had fun nonetheless. We all got to meet Raina's mom, and they look exactly alike for the record. Brian made delicious vegan sausages, and there were various delicious salads and ice cream bars from Marcy and watermelon and San Fran Bakery treats. Another fine and eclectic crop of books were discussed, which you will find on the Oly Reads bookshelf. I also tried to give Meghan a migraine with the flash on my camera, but she appropriately warded me off with a book. I took a few pictures, and did several of you a kindness by deleting the really bad ones with extra red eye action...

Nice pics. I wish I'd been there. I tried to send a message with my books listed. You didn't get them, did you?
The armies / Evelio Rosero
In Perfect Light / Benjamin Alire Saenz
Points of Departure: new stories from Mexico / ed. by Monica Lavin
All good and worth reading.

uh, uh, no I didn't. Next time, or tell me if you don't get to it.
It's done! It's really easy to add books to the shelf, though, and you can add them for any reason, not just because of book club!
