I would love to hear your thoughts on if you think you are a linchpin.

I guess. To be a linchpin is to be entrepreneurial. Check out my webcomic, updates every Thursday: http://reddkaiman.blogspot.com/2013/0...
I think I am.Not consciously though ; I do whatever I find logical and the right thing to do.Been doing this for the 4 odd years since I have been in the workforce and seen great results.

I do account management and sales for a living.Been avoiding the rule book since day one.Just had one rule ; to wow customers. And been rocking the usual targets and whatever that have been set up in my corporate framework.
The problem that such books never address is we can't ALL be exceptional (or "linchpins"). Millions of jobs have been off-shored. Now advanced robotics, and software that writes new software, will make millions of supposedly "safe" jobs obsolete. The parking lot attendant I handed my money to Monday through Friday for the past five years has just been replaced by a machine. What's that 55 year-old man supposed to do? Learn to code? And we just say that is the price of progress, as if it is some unstoppable force that we have no control over.
