I read this a while ago, and to be honest, I didn't love it. I felt like it was a really well-written, and I generally like WWII historical fiction, but this book never really sucked me in. However, I know lots of people who absolutely loved it, so maybe I was just in a mood.
Here are some questions to get you started, and please feel free to answer whether or not you've read the book or to bring up any other topics.
What parallels did you see between the story and today's political situation? How do you think America (and Europe) have changed or stayed the same in our attitudes about war?
How do Iris and Frankie differ in their ideas about fate? Who do you agree with most?
Iris and Frankie are both in business of conveying information, and they both have to make decisions about what to pass along and what to hold back. Do you think they made the right decisions? As the messenger, are you in some way responsible for the effects of the message?
