"Bill" Bryson, OBE, (born December 8, 1951) is a best-selling American author of humorous books on travel, as well as books on the English language and on scientific subjects. Born an American, he was a resident of North Yorkshire, UK, for most of his professional life before moving back to the US in 1995. In 2003 Bryson moved back to the UK and currently lives in Norfolk.-Wiki
I love reading Bryson for his simplistic approach in telling complicated subjects from the secrets of the cosmos to the ordinary traveller observations. Below are some of my collection..

Ada lebih kurang 9 buah buku Bill Bryson di tempat kerja saya. Malangnya tak ada satu pun buku kembara dalam foto di atas.

I love Bryson. I have most of his books and his latest, At Home: A Short History of Private Life is in my to-read pile.

While I enjoy his travel books, his history books aren't up to par. The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way, for example has inaccuracies which suggests shoddy research. His autobiography, The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid also did not wow me. I love history and biographies and I was surprised that this book bored me.

His mini-biography on Shakespeare, Shakespeare: The World As Stage, however is quite good as a primer on the playwright. There are other more detailed bios on Shakespeare of course but for someone unfamiliar with the Bard and wants to read something on him without spending too much time, that book is perfect.
