Bonjour my pretties!

:D

I want to make a topic that focuses on beauty.

What is beauty?

Well, it definitely is in the eyes of the beholder. :D

But let's not forget the beauty of the soul. :) Who can love a hot sexy ladeh, who has the personality of a brick and the soul of Adolf Hitler? :P None, right?

So I think, beauty is in everyone, and is in everything.

But in this thread, we're going to talk about hair, cosmetics, nails, whatever!! You get the gist :D

If you have any questions or want to ask for tips?

i.e. What is an inexpensive way to give myself a beauty treatment?

Now... if you're asking questions... I want you all to be specific, so I can give you a precise answer. So your question should continue on like this:

i.e. ... that could tighten my pores?

Then, I can give you the tip you're looking for. Everyone else who want to answer these questions and share their knowledge can jump in :D

Don't be shy, ok?

NOTE: The Ask Rain: Advice topic is a topic I made for any advice you seek of, be it beauty, love, boys, or anything general or whatever.

But I decided to make more topics that target specific cattegories of subjects that could engage us girls, and guys if they wish, to a wonderful conversation. :D

(Did I just talk like that? >_<)

So, yes... I'm trying to keep this folder of mine alive! :D

Feel free to ask any beauty questions here! :D

Stay true, and stay beautiful my pretties! :D

Hihihi!! This is my first tip Laura...

PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! :D

Yup... would you believe me if I told you that I only started turning to make up on 2008? And I only started doing a proper skin regime in the same year too?

Hahahaha!!

Btw, girls... I have a rule when putting make-up on and even the great Australian Make-up artist (who has his own make up brand) Napoleon Perdis who started the quote: Not to Prime is a Crime!, have said to put eye make up on first before anything else, aside from a primer that would keep your make-up on longer and would make the colours of your make-up pop up more!

If you put your eye make-up on first and you made a mistake, you won't have to reapply your other make-up that was ruined while erasing your mistake. :)

But here's a tip that you can do to help you.

Use an eyeliner pencil first. Do not use one that is waterproof. You need a pencil that can get erased by water since you'd be using Liquid liner later.

Once you have placed the desired thickness/style on with the pencil, trace it with the liquid eyeliner. :)

Picking the perfect liquid liner is essential to perfecting the act of putting the liquid liner on.

But you know what I love about eye liners?

This would be a bit tricky if you don't have steady hands and are a bit too scared about colouring the inner rims of your eyes.

to make my lashes look thick, I put eyeliner in the inner rims of my eyes for a greater impact. I hope you know what I'm talking about, Laura. :P

If you don't... pull your eyelid to your eyebrows and angle yourself like you're going to put eyeliner at the bottom inner rim of your eyes.

You have to becareful though... and do not use liquid liner in the fleshy inner rims because it won't dry.

Use waterproof eyeliner pencil to do this because you don't want the eyeliners to smudge.

Trust me... they smudged at the corner of my eyes after awhile. I'm so gonna buy a waterproof one soon. :P

I hope this helps :)

Ask anymore if you have more questions! :D

Laura | 170 comments thanks :) you're so good at advice lol
i put eye pencil on the inner rims of my eyes, but i wasn't sure whether you should do that with eye liner... now i know :D
i have a friend who closes her eyes, sticks her eye pencil in between the lids and goes from side to side- thats how she puts on her eye-liner :S it's really freaky

Hahah why thank you Laura :) I'm flattered :">

Hehehe, well eye pencil is definitely better in my opinion. You can use it in your outer and inner rims, you can smudge it and it can come out in waterproof and non-waterproof formulas :D

Hahaha it's freaky? Well it can be, but it really depends on what works for you, darl. :)

Have a go at it, and tell me how you went. :)

Laura | 170 comments haha i meant sticking the pencil in your closed eyes- i'm not trying that i'll blind myself :D

Oh... then that IS freaky! >_< I think she's probably scared of poking her eyes, but tell her to just be careful because I think she won't do much of a good job with putting kohl in her eye rims when they're closed... >_<

I once poked my eye when I tried kohling the inner rims... it made me cry... >_< no not in the painful way but my eyes just watered up. But remember the saying: No pain no gain! :P

message 8: by Laura (new)

Laura | 170 comments the day i bought my first mascara, i was putting it on (very cautiously- hey, it was my first attempt lol) and my little sis crept up behind me and went 'boo!'- my eye watered then!
i don't wear mascara anymore cos its a pain to put on and my eyelashes are pretty black and long anyway :)

message 9: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy i don't wear any makeup. actually, i think i don't even own any! :P but if i ever do start wearing it you'll be the first I'll ask! :D

message 10: by Keara (new)

Keara (kearachristine) How do you make your lashes look a bit thicker? I have really long, dark lashes. But they don't look thick when I put on my mascara.

I don't have long lashes... :( Which is a big bummer.

But first of all, if you want thick looking lashes (I'm envious you have long ones... :( ) The formula of your mascara is very very important. I think Mousse based mascaras help, but you have to buy a mascara that says it will promise volume!!

I prefer definition and length that's why I buy Maybelline Define-a-lash!

But if it still doesn't work, here's a little tip.

Pat some powder on your eye lashes. As in, close your eyes, put on some powder (i.e.: foundation because it would have a better consistency with make-up itself) and put on your mascara! Voila! Your lashes look thicker. :D

The powder gives your lashes some thicker coating because it is attached to the hair follicle. Then you just colour it with mascara and they look thicker! :D

But there is another way to make your lashes thicker however it can be expensive. You should buy a lash primer. Yup... there are so many primers out there. :P Just ask a make-up counter for one and check which one suits you the most.

Hope this helps! Give it a try and get back to me! :D

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Beleive it or not, I'm a whiz with make-up. I don't wear it, but... it's weird. Once, I was really bored so I was messing with my mother's make-up, and I made my lips look like a zombie, and my eyes were all freaky... and it was cool!

I hate my hair. It's a bit like Hermione's but not so curly, and it gets REALLY frizzy, especially when it's wet or humid outside. It won't co-operate when I try to make it look nice, it just goes in every direction. How can I make it not so uncontrollable?

Also: This is completly unrelated, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately. What do you think about child beauty pageants?

message 17: by Jamine Isabel E. Uy, The creative makes-awesome-stuff-for-us one (new)

Jamine Isabel E. Uy (candy-rain) | 3069 comments Mod
I don't think there should be child beauty pageants. There are some children who are very sensitive to rejection, actually most kids are. If they didn't win beauty pageants they get scarred and that can affect them in the future.

For your problem,

it's very easy. You have two ways:

1) When you shower, make sure that after using hot water, you have to suffer by shooting cold/iced water on your hair.

It will close the pores on your head so that your hair won't look so frizzy.

2) Use a frizz balm.

It's hard to make your hair not go frizzy when the rain comes and when it's so humid.

So I suggest using frizz serums or balms to help maintain it.

However, after every shower, a shot of cold water on your scalp helps a great deal.

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Have you ever seen that show "Toddlers and Tiaras"? It's just little girls doing beauty pageants, and majority of those girls will amount to nothing! In an episode, there is usually only one girl who isn't "*whine* But Mommy I want the blue dress! I WANT THE BLUE DRESS!!"

They get their faces done, like they go to a dermatologist and they tell these girls to like wash their faces every night and they talk about their pores and all this stupid stuff! Once, there was this seven year old, who SHAVED HER LEGS.

It's sickening. I don't think I've ever spent five hundred dollars at one store, much less on one dress.

Well to me, telling little girls how to take care of their skin, having a good skin regime, and teaching them how to groom and take care of themselves is a good idea. I don't think that's stupid. It will only become stupid if you give them scientific terms... at their age they won't know what you're talking about...

But shaving their legs?! God!! >_< Why would you teach a kid to handle a razor!! And she's only a child, who's gonna want to check her un-hariy legs out? A pedo!!

You're only going to ask pedos to check out your child all the more... or worse, kidnap them and rape them >_<

I think these shows need to be banned!!!

They are teaching kids to be shallow!

Kids shouldn't wear make-ups! They shouldn't worry about their pores since they don't get pimples at that age!!

However, I do agree with the part where they are taught how to take care of their skin...

With the rest?

I am fully against it!!

>:(

I am not going to let my child go into such stupid shows and contests!

message 20: by Laura (new)

Laura | 170 comments well, you know what those kids are gonna turn out like...

but seriously, they shouldn't even CARE about shaving their legs at seven- they should be outside playing in the mud.

Hahah yes! I agree Laura!!

Why the hell would they shave their legs?!?! >_<

Omg...

Like I said, it's good to teach kids how to groom themselves properly, but come on! >_< a pageant!! Stupid f***ers...

Laura | 170 comments when i said what i said above, i had an image of my 8 year old sister lol... seriously, she is so scruffy. i used to be a perfectly clean baby and it freaked my mum out lol. then my middle sister was pretty much normal, and my youngest sister never ever even brushes her hair! it's like when she actually does, we're like "ooh rosie, your hair looks lovely... have you brushed it... well done!"

message 23: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy yah. i loved to play in the mud when i was a child! XD i hated dresses and i insisted on wearing overalls!

come to think of it i still enjoy playing in the mud!

The mother said: When Tanya was born I was quite worried...I didn't want to have an ugly child.
