I just finished reading city of ashes and i think now more then ever that jace and clary are not related theres just to much goin on around that Im not sure..... what do u guys think?

i know it does cause a lot of tension too... i was sad at the end of the second book when jace said "ill just be your brother from now on" i was like NOOO

Loved the second book. And I don't think they are brother and sister....ok...I'm in denile and will be until there is actual proof...besides what Valentine says (wouldn't believe him at all)

yeah i dont think they are eaither.. there was a couple things at the end that made me wonder even more... valentine was about to say something to carly about that when he got cut off wanna know what he was gonna say... then also whatever the inquisiter wispered to jace before she died too i think it has something to do with that but maybe im in denial too :)

I just finished both books and joined this group. These were the first books in a long time that I've picked up and didn't want to stop reading until the end. Of course, then I was sad that it was over. Luckily, I had the first two atleast. It will be hard to wait for the third one.

At the end of book one, I was really confused about whether or not Jace and Clary are really siblings. I couldn't believe it (or didn't want to believe it), but in the first book it made sense. But all the hints in the second book have given me hope that it was all a sick joke on Valentine's part. There were too many people who acted like they were second guessing just who Jace and Clary are to each other. I'm certain at this point that they are not siblings and I can't wait to find out for sure in book three. I'm thinking as soon as she wakes her mom up the truth will come out.

I hadn't heard anything about the third book, so I will be heading to that website next. It is interesting that the author is bringing in another male character to "mess" things up. That makes me believe more and more that Jace and Clary are not related and a new player will keep the tension going. So sad when characters have to work so hard for the happy ending.

i couldnt agree more!! after reading the second book im almost positive they wont be related... i cant wait to find out what the new charcter will bring to the table but hopefully in the end all will be good

i just finished the second one yesterday!! IT WAS SO AWESOME!! can't wait for the third one. :D

yeah all the stuff about "do you know what blood runs through your veins?" definitely makes me think that they might not be related. I really hope so anyway!

yeah to go back to them being restricted... i totally agree. when they found out they HAD to hold back they probably felt seperated... but come to think about it, we were told Jace didn't like to listen to anyone, and when Clary comes into the picture, she's the only one who can get through to him, is this because they really 'siblings' or something else?? and i think Clary was restricted before with Simon. she couldn't really show her true feelings with Jace because she cared too much about Simon.. but i don't know...

yeah but there was that part when she said something to jace like, "i like you like i should like simon and i like him like i should like you ..." uhhh well i rephrased it weirdly but it was something like that. XD

Can't wait for COG! very very excited.

I reckon.. Jace was made from the mortal cup. Explains how he is so close to the angel and all. OR if not, he's either stephen's child or the wayland child. Cause Michael also had a child name Jonothan right?! One that died in the fire, so what if Clary's real brother died in the fire, meaning it can't be Jace.!
Either way, they can't be related. I just refuse to believe it.

i think your right too thats why they have those funny marks on their arms, maybe Clary's mum was trying to save her and from what Valentine did to his frist real son (turning him into a monster) so when she stole the mortal cup after she found out what he was going to do to clary???
thats why she has those powers cause he already started working on her.

Yes, that is possible.
Perhaps that's why Jocelyn had left him with Clary, because he was experimenting with his own child.
Possibly meaning that since Jace and Clary could not possibly be related, Jace wasn't Valentine's to begin with.

This book could have been way cooler and that is why I got a bit disappointed. I still have high hopes for the third book because it has got a cool world but could go wrong for me if she continues to insist on:

1. writing around what is sooo obvious rather than just exploring the issues (I don't know maybe readers are being treated as dumber than normal)
2. retro-fitting her world (where in the #%^#$ did Max come from? Has this book jumped the shark already?)
3. and does anyone else here find incest sexy? (so obvious they are not bro and sister- check out JK Rowling on how to write twists...don't harp on about it)

yeah...this is why that part sucked.

Still the book was entertaining if not fustrating but as a first time author I guess you could give her a bit slack

i don't think incest is sexy ... but then clary and jace are so sexy together ... so i'm like "gah i want them to end up together but that would be weird but they're probably not siblings ... they CAN'T beeeee!!!" so yeah, it just makes me really frustrated. and then i feel stupid that this book makes me feel frustrated. lol

Clary and Jace can't be brother and sister! I'm convinced that Jace is an angel. I mean- that's how he's described on like every page- beautiful as an angel, his angelic face, etc. And he jumps from buildings without getting a scratch? I think Clary's real brother is dead or in disguise. I just wish she knew that so she could kiss Jace again, already... I can't wait to read City of Glass. I'll buy my copy as soon as I finish the book I'm currently reading.

This was my favorite book in the series. It was totally awesome.

I don't have a favorite. Like they Harry Potter books, they r all amazing.

i liked City of Glass best, but i loved them all :]

this was my least favorite but had good parts in it

rlly? I loved City of Ashes ... :D City of Glass was my favorite. I think the books got increasingly better. So City of Ashes was my second-favorite. haha.

I just finished reading City of Ashes last night and was wondering if anyone else was confused when Simon bit Jace and he didn't turn into a vampire or that Simon didn’t seemed to care that he might? Lucian (Luke) turned into a werewolf after he was bitten??

Maybe I've just read too much Twilight but it seemed a bit weird.

I was wondering on that one too. but If I remember correctly, I think raphael, valentine or someone else mentioned that its not really a 100% chance of getting turned into a vamp or werewolf when bitten. Its like a virus. If your body can resist it..you won't get turned.

I figured it out...

Jace isn't becoming a vampire because he didn't ingest vampire blood. Simon became a vampire because he did.
