Nonfiction Boot Camp discussion
Book Choices for July and August

I just joined your group because I do read and enjoy non-fiction. One I read recently that was really good is "Nim Chimpsky: the Chimp Who Would Be Human" by Elizabeth Hess. It is about Nim and the many other chimps who were taught sign language in the 1980's and beyond. Could I suggest it for September or later? I will look for your July and August books.
Now that we're up to 8 people, do we want to vote on another book for August? We've got one vote for Nim Chimpsky and my suggestion for In Defense of Food. Let me know by next weekend (7/19) if you have a preference or want to suggest another title.
Is In Defense of Food the book for August? I had to return The God Delusion to the library before I could finish it... I might have to shell out some $$$ for the August book since there's a 65 persons waiting list for 24 books.
In Defense of Food is the book of the month. I had no idea it was so popular. I got it used off of Amazon.com for US$10.
I'm at my parents' house through the end of this week but will begin a discussion thread when I get home. Maybe it would be a good idea to wait until closer to the end of the month--say, the last week, maybe the 20th of each month? So that everyone has a chance to read as much as possible. I'll copy this on the "procedures" thread, too.
Hope everyone is having a good summer!
