Before I post the preface to my mermaid story, I want to give you guys the synopsis:"Galena Triton has her whole future planned out. She is the daughter of the Sea King and is training to become ruler of the ocean, and as her eighteenth birthday quickly approaches, she will marry gorgeous prince Dorian Maris, and together they will preside over their underwater kingdom. But when she rescues a beautiful human boy from a scuba diving accident, she thinks she has truly found love. Now, as she finds herself falling in love with the wrong person, she must also fight to prevent a war between the savage cecaelian warriors and the peaceful merfolk. Will she risk veering off the path carved for her---forever---all for love?"
Here's the preface:
I always knew what the future would hold for me. Since birth, my whole life was planned out, all my choices predestined for me, my position of power already granted. I knew who I was going to marry, and I knew I was meant to rule over the waters of my kingdom.
My path was carved out by everyone but me. Did it bother me? No. The truth was, I’d been told what to do and how to do it my whole life, so it was normal for me to follow everyone else’s wishes but my own. When you’re the princess of one of the largest and most prosperous underwater kingdoms in all the seven seas, the phrase seen, but not heard takes on a whole new meaning.
I am to marry the prince of one of the smaller kingdoms, the handsome and clever Dorian Maris. Ever since I first met him, I knew he could be quite arrogant, a bit stubborn, and more than a little crude, but I’d learn to live with his ways. He would soon be my husband, after all. Together, the two of us would rule the ocean---or, well, at least a great portion of it.
My eighteenth birthday was quickly approaching, and in that short time span I had to endure extensive training as the future ruler of the sea. Countless times I have sat in the grand throne room, listening to civil disputes between the civilians of our kingdom, and I have traveled across the entire ocean delivering speeches and helping those in need of my help. My father taught me everything I had to know to be a great and fair leader, while my mother taught me how to look presentable and modest as a queen.
From the day I was born, I was preparing myself for the future, one where I didn’t get to choose whether this was the life I wanted or not. I thought, maybe, it was.
But, as I would soon discover, the future is always filled with surprises.

she's pretty. is that on your own blog?
Here's sort of a teaser/summary for a new book series I've been working on. I haven't worked much lately on any of my books, but this is just another one I've got going through the planning stages. It's called TEMPTRESS, and it's about a teenage succubus:Elena Galliard is a succubus. She transforms into a winged creature that feeds on the souls of mortal men. Resisting the urge to give in to temptation, she wants nothing more than to be normal, and when she meets the darkly irresistible Cain Mathews, she doesn’t know how to stay away. His soul calls to her, and she finds herself wanting to kill him more than anyone else. But, at the same time, she finds herself falling in love with him. And when a rogue succubus goes on a killing spree, she'll do whatever it takes to make Cain (and herself) safe again...

The preface is to a mermaid series called SEAWITCH, with two sequels in the planning stages.
