Actually, yes! I got the concept of some of my stories from listening to music. Search for the Rose Crown was inspired by listening to Sting's Desert Rose and imagining to it well part of the book at least. Then the next book, the rough inspiration came from Message in a Bottle (guitar hero fans will know about that one!).

hmmm. I have songs that fit with my characters PERFECTLY. the song that really seems to fit the overall story is either violet hill, by coldplay, or viv la vida. also by coldplay xD

another is everday -carly comando. she has a myspace page :] ever seen 'noah takes a pic of himself ever day for 6 years'? the youtube vid? it's that song.

omg, so many of her songs describe soul stealer... i made a whole list on my ipod yesterday... i'll have to copy it onto here later. some of the songs you would think are practically WRITTEN about soul stealer; it is freaky!!! OMG XD

omg my soul stealer playlist on my ipod is like my fave playlist right now; it is awesome!!! It's funny - I never, ever imagine music for my stories at all. Ah well!

Although, I did write one once where my mom said that this one song would match, and it rather did... it was sort of a super hero story, a comedy. The song was "Real World" by Matchbox Twenty. Yeah!

Hey Brigid, Fallin' by Alicia Keys might be a good one for Soul Stealer at the beginning, when Eva doesn't want to fall in love with David because he's a soul saver but does anyway?

let me think... um. "Falling Even More in Love with You." works for one kinda. And for another, "Whatever It Takes."

have you evr read a book, then listened to a song, and it's like they totally line up? one example is the Prophet of Yonwood (3rd book of Ember) and the song Zombie by the cranberries. when i was reading Yonwood, they matched amasingly. has anyone else ever noticed somehting like that?

ps) doncha love thinking of mathicng songs for a story? it's like making a soundtrack for the movie..once the book is published nad famous, which of course, it will be :)

XD actually, i often picture my stories as movies in my head. and when i listen to a song and it reminds me of my story, it's like i can see the trailer for the movie of my book, with the song playing in the background. it's pretty awesome. lol. XD although i'm not sure if my stories would make great movies... my characters do a lot of THINKING, you know?

I did something like a movie script the other day. I really want to make SLip into a comic book (i'm an artist. art is here: http://adi-sama.devintart.com) so i started a comic book script :D Haha. I would also be thrilled for it to become a movie. That would be so cool.

One verse of the song usually hits me, and then I add it in, sometimes i could be writing something, then be listening to the radio, and hear this song that goes perfectly with my story.

That never happens to me. My stories don't have music to go with them.

oh my gosh brigid i feel EXACTLY the same way!! XD whenever I get a new story idea, I always picture it as a movie trailer; and when I'm writing, it's playing the movie in my head; so lots of times music comes with it. and also, i know what you mean...like in soul stealer, eva ponders things around in her head for a bit...so it would be strange in a movie to see the main character just standing around doing nothing with a thoughtful expression on their face. You would be completely clueless, unless they actually made actors say their thoughts, like in the background, you know what I'm talking about?

my characters think a lot, too...they like to ponder their situation a lot...and repeat to themselves that they're going to die, over and over again...XD at least in the morte, that's what holly does a lot...its kind of funny. "oh no now the ghost is going to get me! oh no now im going to die! oh no if i dont do the impossible in one day im going to die! GAH MY LIFE IS GOING TO END!!!"

hehe. its fun making fun of your own writing, you know? mainly it's because you CAN. nobody is going to get offended or be mad at you except for your characters (oops, sorry, holly, I didn't mean it, I DIDN'T, I swear) so you can say whatever you want. (I'm just joking, Holly, honest!! I'm really sorry!! I- hey!! Give me my pen back! That wasn't fair. Okay, I already said I'm sorry! Now give it back- thank you, Holly.) Anyways...what was I saying?

I just thought of something fun to do on a rainy day. Get together with your characters, your friend(s), and your friend's characters. Then, make a playlist for your story, their story, and a playlist with songs for your stories combined.

For intance, if I were to partner up with Kenzie, we would try to find songs that fit both Roses for June and Runaway or Prisoner or something else.

yeah, hopefully it's going to rain today, I'm sick of this heat! I miss the rain!

my main character probably wouldn't...but my villains sure would.

I don't think my characters would kill me, but I'm not sure anymore. Today, when I was writing, I found out Sam's not all that funny. And he can get mad. Very mad. Just like Lucas; he blew up at Charlie 'cause she wanted to get kidnapped to save her brother. My characters are weird. I don't think Joan would kill me...Lawrence might, heck, he killed himself!

Yeah, well Lawrence would kill...everyone. XD

Holly probably would want to kill me, but I don't think she actually would...

Yeah, Charlie's a girl. Her father and mother work for criminals. Her mother died when she was seventeen and her father 'disappeared' when she was nine. Her brother's name is Max. I have the story on my profile. I couldn't think of any other name for her, no other name really fit her...
