Brian (toveyb) | 2 comments You're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, so how do you pick one to read? I like to be exposed to as many ideas as possible, in as many forms as as possible, so I'm really open to anything. But I have my limits- sci fi, no thanks, dragons and fairies, no way.

I think picking a book is hard. For me it's an investment of both time and money, so I don't want to read something that sucks. I take my books personally. I tend to not follow the crowd but I'm always willing to listen to others. And sometimes I do pick a book because it has a cool cover.

Katya | 1 comments I usually either pick an author that I feel comfortable reading, like Agatha Cristie, or a genre that I like. Almost any book fitting into those catergories ends up being a good read.

Rebecca | 1 comments I agree with Melody...but if you have time to research- you can check out your local library's website. They usually have tools on it like NoveList- which is a program for helping you find authors you like that are grouped with like authors- or you can choose "Murder Mystery" (my favorite) and it will group it with different types of murder mystery. I found 3 new authors that way. Just click on the link on their site that says "Services" or something like it..or just go to the library and ask and they'll show you how to find it.

Night~light | 2 comments I make like Kim ...
"Other than that, I usually go by friends' recommendations, or if I am familar with an author and enjoy him/her, I will continue to read his/her books. "
I confide in friends close to me because they have the same interests and I want to try new things. When I don't want to try sth new I just take some book whose author I enjoy...
