I am reading No Plot? No Problem!: A Low-Stress, High-Velocity Guide to Writing a Novel in 30 Days. Chris Baty is the founder of Nanwrimo, and I've had this book on hold at the library for over a year. A friend of mine who was thinking of doing Nanowrimo with me this year just gave me the book and said she couldn't do it. As disappointed as I am that she won't be doing it with me this year, I'm thrilled to finally own a copy of this book. Chris Baty is a hoot, and I'm getting very excited for November.

BZMoney I am reading The Girl Who Played with Fire. The best word to describe this book is Interminable. The plot is decent but Larsson includes far too many irrelevant details. I'm about 3/4 of the way through and I just want to be done! Also, like the first book in this series, it claims to be a "Thriller"... I am not thrilled. I do see potential for the movies.

BZMoney I am reading The Hunger Games. Dystopian novels are amongst my favorite... this one is not disappointing! Love the characters and the moral dilemas they are faced with. I will definately continue the series!

Mindy | 7 comments I have been reading a book recommended by a friend called Crossfire. It wasn't what I expected, but still an enjoyable read. It is a military book that is about LDS Navy SEALs and CIA agents that have to figure out how to accomplish a mission and relying on their faith to help them get through it. It is also a love story.

I am reading The Chronicles of Chrestomanci, Volume III: Conrad's Fate / The Pinhoe Egg. There is an indefinable something about The Chronicles of Chrestomanci that keeps me coming back. Each volume has 2 or 3 shorter novels in them that are loosely tied together via the Chrestomanci--a nine-lived enchanter who is responsible for the handling of magic in all of the 12 Related Worlds. The stories skip between several different Chrestomancis, occasionally using him as a deux ex machina at the end of a story he hasn't even been in. Conrad's Fate is about Christopher as a teenager, after he is in training to become the next Chrestomanci, and The Pinhoe Egg is set a couple decades later, when Christopher is the Chrestomanci. However, the story is about Cat, a teenage boy Christopher is training to someday take his place. I love Diana Wynne Jones' use of magic, and I am very fond of Christopher and Cat. But the stories themselves are convoluted and sometimes slow.

Mindy | 7 comments Now I am reading Mockingjay. Good so far! Don't spoil it for me if you've already finished it!
