Writers Wanted!!! discussion

Are you a new writer or have you been writing for years and are trying to get published? I have started a new group for aspiring writers entitled 'Childrens Book Authors/Illustrators'. My name is Jodi Stone and I have just recently been published for the first time...it's a hard business to get into and I'm hoping to expand my group to talk with other writers or aspiring writers!

At the urging of my daughters I just recently finished a "middle grades" book for girls (target audience 9-11). I have had several girls in this age group "test read" the book. Children are brutally honest so who better to tell me if the story is any good. After some editing on my part the responses have been surprisingly good. The girls want copies to share with friends - I take this as a postitive sign. I've read several books on publishing children's books, but now I'm more confused than ever! Any suggestions on what to do now? - Alicia
