Debbie (debbie_smith) | 3 comments Looks like I'm the first. From the beginning of my memory I have always loved books. Young adult genre has been my favorite for many years. I have two older children and have worked with pre-school and elementary age children for many years both in public schools, daycare, and church. I love to write as well as read but, so far, this is not a genre I am good at. Currently I am an english major with an elementary education minor as well as holding a fulltime job and actively volunteering at my daughter's high school and at our church. I am also a beginning writer on the Dallas Examiner.com site under the Children's Books section.

Patricia Herr (patriciaellisherr) | 1 comments I love to read "grown-up" books to my young daughters whenever the material is appropriate. They have a very high level of comprehensive understanding -- what a great idea for a group.

Shannon (shannonbooklover) | 3 comments I also have loved to read every since I can remember. My parents are both avid readers and as a kid I remember always being at the library and sitting on the floor leafing through books to see what sounded good...no internet back then...haha. For awhile I kind of got away from reading with all the craziness of raising a family, but am back to it and really loving it! I also help run a book club for my daughters aged 12 and 7 and it has been a great way to share a love of reading with them...they are already both avid readers.

Brie (faerie_brie) Hello All (:
i'm new to Goodreads and this is my first group!
Reading is a big part of my life. I have 2 children. My son is 5 and my daughter 3 and another one due late November. They always ask what I'm currently reading and love to inquire on all the books at the bookstore. I have begun reading some books chapter by chapter to them since this was a big enjoyment in my young years. I find this is encouraging not only their vocab and imagination but also their desire and eagerness to read themselves. I look forward to sharing books with you and yours. (: ~peace~

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) Hello!

I'm a fantasy author that writes family-friendly stuff. I remember going into a bookstore and having a hard time finding good, clean fantasy stories. So I decided to write them myself! I love fantasy that's kid-safe, mostly because I don't like a lot of the stuff put in adult fantasy books. Too graphic for my tastes. So I'm always looking for books like that. :)
