Thriftbooks is an incredible enabler for our addiction. I just received [book:The Nitrogen Murder: A Periodic Table Mystery that I ordered from them last month and I have another that should be arriving from them soon too.

So far this is my first buy this month and I just got a new job so there is going to be more buying

I found a bookshop that was having a sale and picked these up for 49p each

I bought yesterday but it was a gift for a friend and I had it signed by Kelley Armstrong last night!!:)

I bought from B&N and from a local ubs.

Yeah getting to see Kelley Armstrong was great Valorie! Went and saw Kat Richardson last night and on Monday going to see Richelle Mead! We got tons of good author's here in Portland this month!!:)

My plan for tomorrow is to go to a 30,000+ used book sale! The prices range from 25cents to $3. Its definitely the highlight of my weekend!

Awesome!!! I'm going to one like that next month!! Saving up some dollars so I can hit the ubs in the area too!

You're funny! I didn't realize that a few cookbooks fell out of the bag in the car. For 30,000+ books, I was expecting to come home with more; but I'm happy with those, I'm already running out of room as it is!

I know I shouldn't have, but I went to the ubs today. I didn't buy them all for myself, so I don't feel bad!

Ok, I admit it, I fell off the wagon, again. I know I said I was going to go cold turkey this month to save up for buying new next month, but I just couldn't resist those used books at my library Tuesday. I just couldn't admit I fell off until today. :-( You don't know what torture it is to be a bibliomaniac and work where there is a constant supply, it's both pleasure and torture. :-) But I only bought 6 books for a couple of bucks, so it's not too bad.

I did receive the other part of my Thriftbooks order, , but I ordered that last month so it doesn't count.

AND you'll be proud to know that while I was shopping for work clothes today I WAS able to resist visiting Borders, Barnes & Noble, AND another library's used book shelves. So, all in all, not too bad, right? :-)

Not bad at all! Going "cold turkey" is really tough :)

I've only bought The Bird Watching Answer Book: Solutions to Every Problem You'll Ever Face; Answers to Every Question You'll Ever Ask. I've been given The Man Who Loved Books Too Much: The True Story of a Thief, a Detective, and a World of Literary Obsession, A Home at the End of the World, Dry Store Room No. 1: The Secret Life of the Natural History Museum and The Windup Girl. I've got a list going at Powell's but I have a summer birthday and expect that there are another few books in my immediate future.

Not bad at all, Joseph. I have a Barnes and Noble GC burning a hole in my wallet, so tomorrow I may be falling off the wagon.

July was "read a book a day" month. August is "read interesting books slowly" month. I have read Julian Comstock: A Story of 22nd-Century America and am now reading The Orientalist: Solving the Mystery of a Strange and Dangerous Life. Definitely The Man Who Loved Books Too Much: The True Story of a Thief, a Detective, and a World of Literary Obsession and Mockingjay. Maybe Lavinia; maybe The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, and after that, who can say?

You must read/listen to books a lot of the day. I only read for half an hour to an hour. I would like to read more but my obsession with the internet, particularly looking at books online, takes priority.

I read on the treadmill, so ideally that's 1-2 hours a day. Between academic terms, more pleasure reading. In term, more professional books, monographs, etc.

I bought & last night at Powell's when I went to the Richelle Mead signing :):)

My treadmill is much watched. Oh, I've just noticed, its a glider. That says plenty about me.

I only purchased 1 book in July and so far I have not purchesed any in August, but I plan on going to a library booksale this Friday the 13th at Fairview Hgts Library in Fairview Heights, Il (just about 15 min. east of St Louis)

Ilean, I didn't know about the Fairview Heights library sale. I'm nearby and will have to try and check it out.

Went to library booksale in Fairview Hgt, Il. Wow- lot's of good hardback books for $2.00. Tomorrow is half price day! If you are in St Louis area-come east on Hwy 64 to Fairview Hgts!
I only bought two- September by Rosamunde Pilcher and Mistress of thr Revolution by Catherine Delors both hardback.

I went to an awesome library booksale today!

Fun! I will be receiving some books tomorrow, and then I'll be doing some filling in.

And now I've added a couple more. The Travels of Marco Polo by Marco Polo and The Travels of Ibn Battutah by Ibn Battutah. I'm sure there will be more before the month is out!

Isn't it just a great feeling to know that you'll be receiving some more books?!

I've always said that I prefer rectangular gifts, but this rarely makes a sufficient impression on friends and family.

I didn't make it to the Fairview Heights sale, but picked up for a quarter at the O'Fallon library. All of their sale books are half price right now.

I bought ten boxes of books today for the bookshop, there about twenty books for me in there. I've only unpacked a few but have started on Brokeback Mountain, my first audio book.

Fun! I decided that I should read a few of the books that I found on GR, so it's The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet right now and maybe 600 Hours of Edward after.

My family just knows that a Borders or Amazon gift card is the best way to go with me now, LOL!

I received two orders over the weekend. One from Amazon and the other from Thriftbooks

After an educator's discount and with 4 for the price of 3 on audiobooks, that cost $31.
