Well, I didn't take these pictures, but my three-year-old niece, Daliyah took them. She took them while we were at the beach last month. I taught her how to point and click my digital camera, and let's just say she fell in love with it. She took a lot more than these, but these are the highlights."Take a Picture of Mommy, Liyah."
Liyah: Microwave? Me: yes, you can take a picture of the microwave
"Take a Picture of the bedroom, Li-Li"
Okay, we were walking to the car, and she was taking pictures of random people, and...she took a picture of this guy's crotch.
This is my brother, her dad.
Notice that the cups say "KGC" for some reason.
Now, I took this one of her. This is the photographer!
Cute photographer. I like that all of her pictures are taken from a 3 year old's height.Gabby, there are some cool looking minibuses going the opposite direction in the third photo. At least at speed they look cool.
Bravo Daliyah! It's nice to meet the whole family, Britt. KGC is a mystery. Kentucky "Grilled" Chicken maybe? Never seen it before.

Nice pictures guys, thanks for sharing.
Well, if they're anything like the ones in South Africa, there are about fifty people crammed onto the benches inside praying that the bus is in good enough shape to get them home.
I have only recently learned how to add pictures too.

From the train on my way to work.

A couple of barbeque assistants at my daughter’s hockey game.

Dawn a few weeks ago. The picture was taken from the veranda off my bedroom.

I did a double-take when I saw that bridge in your first picture, Gail. It looks just like our Hell Gate Bridge here in New York:
And what are those neat birds in the second shot called? They look like a couple of Dandie Dinmont Terriers with wings!
Twins, or triplets maybe. Newcastle-on-Tyne England.

The birds are kookaburras. They love to steel sausages from naive barbeque customers.

The one in Newcastle looks quite pretty. Hell Gate Bridge unfortunately has a rather forbidding air about it. It's a railway bridge, so you can't approach it by foot or in an automobile. And it's located in a heavily industrial area anyway. Also, the name is not terribly inviting--Hell Gate. I think it has to do with the treacherous currents in the waters below.
Gail "cyborg" wrote: "The birds are kookaburras..."Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree!
We learned that song when I was in kindergarten back in the Paleolithic era. I don't think I ever realized what a kookaburra looked like.
My picture of course is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It takes rail & cars & pedestrian traffic. My shot does not do it justice. For a fee you can climb to the top. There is a foot race in a month, "The Bridge to Bridge" where you get to run across it. I was planning to run but I have injured my ankle. :(

A better picture of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, not taken by me.

Sorry about your ankle, Gail. What a bummer. The footrace sounds like fun.
Sydney Harbor, or Harbour as you prefer, looks beautiful from photos I've seen over the years, particularly views of the opera house. Never been, but I'd like to go someday.
Britt, I think the "KGC" stands for Kentucky Grilled Chicken... as they've added grilled chicken to the menu fairly recently. It's probably a branding/ad campaign...And your pictures made me laugh out loud - Liyah is especially cute. My fave, though... is the crotch picture. :) In fact, I shared your pictures with my coworker. She said the crotch picture was her favorite, too... and we both "dawwwww"'d over the picture of your adorable niece.
Jonathan wrote: "That's a narrow bridge Janine. Bicycles and pedestrians only (I hope)?"the picture only shows the part for bicycles (red asphalt = bicycles only), to the left there's also a railroad. this is the only other picture i took of the bridge:
Mandatory bit of graffiti. Why is it that Graffiti looks the same no matter where you go?
:) of course. Are you fessing up?
We went flying last weekend.A few shots from the air...

This is our local amphitheater. The actual theater portion is the dark wedge shape to the left of center. The building farthest right is a performing arts high school.

And no flight is complete without an adorable navigator.

I agree, Phil. When I lived there, I flew in and out on Sky West's little planes frequently. I especially enjoyed the daylight views. I love all the old volcanos.
when my girl and I visited the Grand Canyon a few years back, I coughed up the money for a one hour helicopter ride. That was some of the best money I ever spent and I doubt either one of us will ever forget it.
It's a must-see, that's for sure. Whenever I fly into Vegas from this direction I always scan the landscape coming in, if possible.

Ooh, a photography thread. I can totally participate in this one.
I have probably at least a hundred or so more worth sharing, and thousands more beyond that. You could call photography my hobby to put it mildly.
Caity, those are great! I esp love the first one... very 'capturing the feel of the scene'. :)I love how a person's photos show how they look at the world. My daughter has a fascination with photography too and it amazes me what she chooses to snap photos of that would never occur to me. It seems that true photographers have an unusual view of the world, as well as a talent for capturing that view.
The first two were taken in New Orleans in March, the week of St. Patrick's Day, which was also the first week of the NCAA Division I basketball tournaments (the reason I was there). The first one was taken on one of the streets in the French Quarter, I believe possibly on Royal Street. The second was at Jackson Square in front of St. Louis Cathedral. The third picture was of a guy in my sorority's brother fraternity, but not my school's chapter. We hosted our district's convention, and that was one of hundreds of pictures that came out of that weekend from my camera.
The fourth picture is of a friend of mine who IS in my school's chapter of that same fraternity at the marching band's spring picnic, which was held in the city's largest park.
The fifth picture was from the championship weekend of the women's NCAA Division I basketball tournament in San Diego. We were getting ready for the game, and we are one of the few college basketball bands that goes to this degree to be nuts, but it also gets a lot of public attention for us and distracts the opposing team fairly well. Nothing like twenty loud college students singing Disney songs while you're trying to shoot a free throw just a few feet away.
The final two pictures are from New York City, the top one I took from Central Park in early June 09. I just looked up and saw that building and the clouds behind it and it looked so perfect. The second one was on the Fourth of July looking out over the Hudson Bay as my friend, her family, and I waited for the fireworks. I have an obsession with sunsets and the sky in general.
beautiful pics! The next to the last one reminds me of a "God Sky" as my daughter and I call those bright light in a sky of cloud pictures.
Best of luck with the learning & adoption phase Gabby. Enjoy! Have fun!
Beautiful harbor views, especially the third picture, Gabby. Hope the adventure of moving to Vancouver goes well and is fun.
Gabby, I don't get there very much these days. But if I do, I will certainly want to have coffee with you.
