Since we read One Dance with a Duke in July, and Twice Tempted by a Rogue in August, I thought it only fitting that we finish off the Stud Club trilogy with Three Nights with a Scoundrel for September's Group read.

Sadly, none of these coincide with my "Spell September" challenge but do fall in with my other challenge of reading new authors! Sigh . . .I really need to find the rest of those lettters!!
The only reason I was able to put my list together so quickly is because I have a Word Document made up and was able to search it.
Everyone says it is! 7 more days! LOL Will this be your first September book?? I'm so anxious to get to it, I know it will be my first read for the month.
Have a question about this . . .If I begin the series with #3, is that going to be a total mess up? Normally, I'm a staunch "MUST READ SERIES IN ORDER" kinda gal, but I jsut don'tknow if I'll have time to read the first two before the discussion of # starts! So . . .releive my anxiety! LOL!
Book 1 is heavily about the Stud Club and Leo's murder. Book 2 doesn't have much to do with that at all, but there's new information at the end of the book regarding the killing.Read book 1 for sure - it's a fun, easy read. Then if you want, skip book 2, you won't miss much (though I did like the story) and we can fill you in if you need us to.
I'm usually a die hard MRBIOs fanatic, but in this case I'd say you're fine not to read book 2, but you need to read book 1.
I agree you need to read book 1 to get up to speed what the Stud Club is all about. But do go back and read book 2, it's a great story. This will be one of my first reads of September that's for sure.
Three Nights with a Scoundrel can be read by itself. The club is briefly rehashed and the bits about Leo are detailed enough for anyone new to the series. The characters from the first two books make brief appearances but are not intrusive.IMO, this is Tessa Dare's best book yet. I loved Bellamy.
I have started Three Nights already(I won't discuss yet tho)...I am hoping I can grow to like Julian. In the first to books he sort of rubbed me the wrong way for some reason, with all his fancy dressing and setting trends etc, kinda turned me off from him and in my mind made him a bit feminine. So, as I read, I have to change the image of him in my head. I am only 2 chapters in and liking the book so far, I will give you that much!
From what I've been hearing, most people find book 3 is their favorite, so I'm guessing that Julian will grow on you. ***fingers crossed***
I'm one of the rare people that liked Bellamy from the beginning of the series. I do think anyone that didn't like him will grow to love him in this book. I am itching for everyone else to read it so I can discuss the best bits.
I haven't read any of these but I think I can get through the first two in time to catch up with the third. Or even skip book 2 like UniquelyMoi-Dhestiny suggested. These challenges are getting so addicting but I find they're making me read a ton of books that I already own. :-)

Kate, I'm glad you're enjoying them!! All of my Spell September and Build Your Own Challenge books are books I already own.... well, I did cheat and added Lora Leigh's Renegade to the list which doesn't come out til the 31st, but that means I'll own it before September 1st and that's all that matters! LOL
Yay!!!! I've heard so many wonderful things about this book, I think this will be a great group read.
I just finished ODWaD and tessa dare cld quickly become a fave! I am on a quest to day for 2&3. It just goes against my nature to skip 2 if I can find it! Lol!
Mandy, we must be twins, because it's the same for me. There are times when I've skipped a book, then in the next one I find myself constantly thinking - "did I miss something?" so it's not worth the distraction!
Nice!!! Can't wait to hear what you think of it. I liked it despite how much Meredith annoyed me. LOL
Just bought Three Nights with a Scoundrel today. Now if I can just track down the first two at half price books...Also bought Brenda Joyce's A Dangerous Love. Has anyone else read this or any of her other books? It sounded kinda similar to Lisa Kleypas with the Romany plot so I thought I would give it a try. Plus I love the historic mansion on the front cover.
KATE- I have not personally read any brenda joyce books but have heard very good things about Splendor..and plan to read it very soon!

Kate - I've read 'A Dangerous Love' and really enjoyed it. This book is part of Brenda Joyce's 'deWarenne Dynasty' series. I have listed the books below.
1. The Conqueror (1990)
2. Promise of the Rose (1993)
4. The Game (1995)
5. The Prize (2004)
6. The Masquerade (2005)
7. The Stolen Bride (2006)
8. A Lady at Last (2006)
9. The Perfect Bride (2007)
10. A Dangerous Love (2008)
11. An Impossible Attraction (2010)
12 The Promise (28 September 2010)
Thanks Carol. I knew it was part of a series but I couldn't figure out the book order by looking at the book list in the front of the book. Can this book be read out of order or is it better to start with The Conqueror? I didn't realize A Dangerous Love was towards the end of the series.

They can, therefore, be read on their own but, obviously, the parents do play a part in these books and therefore you might want to read the earlier books first. You can start with the 'The Prize' which is the first of the books set in the 18th and 19th centuries. 'The Conqueror' is set in 1069, 'Promise of the Rose' in 1093 and 'The Game' in 1562.
Good to know. I think I'll still read the one I just bought first since it won't really mess up the storyline. If I like it I'll go back and start at the beginning. :)
I have to read my book club book first then I will start on this one. Can't wait. Mandy did you start reading it?
*SPOILERS*I absolutely loved this book.
In the previous books, I found Julian Bellamy a very unlikable character but, in this book, as details of his past which he had kept hidden gradually came to light, I found myself warming to him more and more and by the end of the book, I really adored him. This isn’t to say that, at times, he wasn’t an unmitigated ass particularly when he continues his investigations into Leo’s death behind Lily’s back and continues to keep certain secrets from her regarding his past.
However, it is obvious loves Lily deeply but feels his background makes him unworthy of her. Lily loves him unconditionally and does not care about his past.
I also adored Lily who was beautiful, intelligent, brave and warm-hearted. She never lets her deafness deter her and was willing to take risks such as attending a social gathering on her own. I also liked that she wasn’t afraid to tear a strip off Julian.
The resolution to the question of who murdered of Leo and why was quite a surprise and one I did not see coming.
The enjoyed the epilogue and I wonder whether there may be further books featuring Claudia and maybe Mary (Julian and Lily’s daughter) and Philip (Claudia’s son) who appear to have an aversion to each other.
I really enjoyed it. There were some times when I wanted to smack Juliean around (not as much as Rhys in previous book).I'm sort of wishy washy on the murderer and all. I expected more of a blow up or something . .
Really enjoyed this book! Julian grew on me(I thought him to be a little fem in the other two books)...then when Leos secrect was revealed, my jaw dropped I was like OMG, I can't believe this! I seriously liked the way the murderers were revealed it was something out of the ordinary, not the same old same old...ya know?
Still liked Rhys the best! Altho i did end up picturing Julian as looking like Guilio...ha, can you imagine? me thinking that?

Heidi wrote: "Really enjoyed this book! Julian grew on me(I thought his a little fem in the other two books)...then when Leos secrect was revealed, my jaw dropped I was like OMG, I can't believe this! I serious..."Heidi, I did like that aspect of it and how she explained it all.
I liked the first one the best ( i cannot remember his name! LOL!) I'm awful with names.
Ok, so I'm on page 197 and *****SPOILER************
Julian just announced his...
ummm... conquests... at the
Ainsley's. WOW! He's so different
in this book, probably
only because we're seeing more
of him.
**********END SPOILER*************
I think this book is the best of the 3. It's very well written and I feel so much more invested in the characters than the previous 2 books.
