Scifi on TV
I think I watched every first wave Anime show that we got here in the states growing up.Anyone remember Voltron? Star Blazers? Battle of the Planets? My guilty pleasure, old, cheesy Anime.
I did love Babylon 5 and Farscape as well as some of the ST iterations. Deep Space Nine often had such inventive story lines and characters who weren't always black or white. Tangled motivations. Good stuff.
STNG, Stargates (all of them but Universe. Not liking that at all). Warehouse 13 and Eureka. Liking Haven so far.
I loved Earth 2 and Firefly. I also love Doctor Who and Torchwood, anything Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. As soon as I post I'll think of more.
Oh, forgot original BattleStar Gallactia! I saw it when I was young. LOL! I've been watching Firefly on dvd. wow. Land of Giants. Lost in Space. I was there. LOL!
Lost in Space was a favorite when I was a kid. I didn't really care for the original Battlestar Gallactica, but loved the remake.
original was totally campy, but still somehow compelling! LOL! i loved how a cylon started showing up in the opener to the A-team.
I don't even remember that at all and I watched the A-Team. I liked that they brought one of the guys from the original Battlestar to the remake. He was really good in it.
HI!My all time favorites are:
Doctor Who
Torchwood
Stargate Atlantis
Andromeda
Earth2
Closely followed by:
Star Trek TOS and Deep Space Nine
Early Edition
Firefly
Warehouse 13
Defying Gravity
The original Battlestar Galactica (Loved it as a kid)
Time Traxx
Babylon 5
And there was a very short-lived show starring DB Sweeney and the red-head from NCIS. It was sort of like Early Edition but I can't remember the name.
I like Eureka but didn't get into it enough to watch it all the time.
I know there were others but I can't think of them now.
I was into Eureka the first season, then a little less the next season and now not at all. It started going off to left field to me which is saying a lot for this show.
I miss the old Star Treks with Picard, Deep Space Nine, Babylon 5.But I'm waiting for the next cool sci-fi hit. So far, I haven't felt much of anything lately. I love anime and I also liked Cowboy Bepop, the movie.
AnnaC, I'm so glad someone else mentioned Defying Gravity. I absolutely love that series...and loved it even more the second time around when I bought the DVD of the series. Just like Firefly, it's another great SF series that was cancelled before it had a chance to find a fan base. It also has a near future setting that is quite unique -- almost contemporary.
I'm also a huge Firefly fan and a Trek fan from TOS through Voyager (not so much for Enterprise).
Laurie, I totally agree about Defying Gravity. I still think that if they'd started with the finding of the object they'd have had a bigger viewship. Course, the network screwed it over a bit too since I didn't even see advertising for it until right before they axed it. I bought the dvds too.

Another anime fan! Yeah!
I agree, AnnaC. They doomed DG to a hopeless time slot on Sunday nights, ads were almost non-existant and they didn't give it time to find an audience. The characters were amazing and layered, the cinematography was breathtaking...and then there was that whole Beta mystery. I joined the Save Defying Gravity group on Facebook, but alas, it was already too late.I posted a YouTube of a Defying Gravity trailer on the SFR Brigade. It gives you a taste of the series, and the visuals are just plain awesome.

We'd be here all day if I tried to list all my sci-fi series. Probably easier to list the ones I didn't like/watch. LOL.Firefly is definitely way at the top of my list, along with Doctor Who.
I love Eureka, Wharehouse 13 and Sanctuary. I recently discovered Stargate SG1 and have been watching those on Hulu. they only have them until Jan so I'm avoiding starting anything else since I have so many seasons of that to get through. I noticed that Netflix has Dr. Who online and I'll probably start that after SG1. I might start watching ST Next Generation with my daughter. She likes sci-fi and I haven't seen them in years.
I love all the Star Treks, although Voyager is my favorite. I'm a feminist at heart and love a female captain.
Is anyone a Farscape fan? I loved that show. We got to go to a convention once and the actors are really cool.
I can't believe I forgot Farscape on my list. Wow. I adored Farscape. It's one of my all-time favorites.
Almost every sci-fi show that has already been mentioned. Some were good and not given a chance. so this is my anime list some are sci-fi some are fantasy, I think they are all good in their own ways.
1. Ghost in the Shell movies 1-3
2. Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. 1&2
3. Vandread
4. InuYasha and InuYasha final act
5. InuYasha movies 1-4
6. Escaflowne
7. Escaflowe movie
8. Appleseed 2004 and Appleseed Ex Machina
9. Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
10. Full Metal Panic;FMP fumoffu;FMP Second Raid
11. Robotech or Marcross all seasons
12. Ghost Hunt
Oh, I really liked the first Ghost in the Shell movie, maybe because of the high quality art. That's all it takes for me, LOL.

Gosh, me too. I've been needing a fix to follow a new crew discovering new worlds and civilizations. :-)
Oh, how I could forget! I also dearly loved Earth - Final Conflict. Yes, not original, LOL. But good stuff.
I loved Roswell.. especially the Michael character.Anyone remember Sliders with Jerry O'Connell?? Loved that one too.
Laurie wrote: "I think I remember Sliders. They "slid" between alternate universes, right?"Yep, that's right! Looking back at the episodes now on youtube, it does not seem as good, but as a teenager I thought it was awesome.
Kinda like the special effects in old (really old) Star Trek episodes that seemed so incredible at the time and now look so totally hokey! LOL I still heart ST:TOS though. Where it all started for so many.
SmittenKitten wrote: "I loved Roswell.. especially the Michael character."Finally someone else who loved Roswell! LOL. Michael was my fave too! But I thought the whole storyline with Isabel was very interesting too.
I loved Sliders and hope that they start it up again. If they can do it with Battlestar Galactica, they could do it with anything. Roswell was nice as well. I didn't think I would like it but I watched the pilot and was hooked.

Right now I am a big Eureka fan!
Umm, well, I'm not sure I want them to resurrect Sliders if they're going to "re-envision" it. I liked the original BG and the original two versions of Stargate but the dark new versions didn't hold my interest. Part of what I loved about Sliders was the humor and lightness even when faced with horrible situations. The same goes for the original BG and Stargate. The "new" versions...well...I get enough dark and hopeless offline. The same goes for other remakes or even books to screen. The producers seem to have sucked all the humor out of the stories in the name of dark drama. For me the humor often makes the dark darker while injecting hope too.
Anna C wrote: "Umm, well, I'm not sure I want them to resurrect Sliders if they're going to "re-envision" it. The re-envisioned shows are very complicated and tell you the truth. I don't watch them either. I am like why can't it just be about good side fighting evil where ever they encounter it. Sometimes simple is good.
However I think the writers of these complicated shows needed to demonstrate they were more than just a spin-off and in some cases a spin-off of a spin-off.
Another topic to consider is that some people want their sci-fi to be have adult issues like they do. What happens is story-lines that seem hopeless.
True. I just like the realistic problems balanced with some humor, since real life is like that too.
Have to say that I'm liking "Haven" on SyFy - the Nathan/Audrey just has so much potential... and I'm such a hopeless romantic!XD
Fun topic too! I really thought I was the only one who EVER watched Cowboy Bebop, what a fun show! Every now and then CN plays an old episode or the movie will randomly be on. I miss that show!
I have lots of cancelled favs, similar to all of you guys. I loved Battlestar Gallactica, Firefly and Farscape three of my all time favorites.
As far as current shows airing that I am watching list is somewhat long!
Being Human - BBCA
Outcasts - BBCA
Eureka - SYFY (just announced - soon to be cancelled)
Haven - SYFY
Falling Skies - TNT
Walking Dead - AMC
Fringe - Fox
Supernatrual - CW
Castle - I know that is not super Scifi though
And it looks like there may be some new promising shows out this fall as well!
Some new ones coming up this fall! Show/genreTerra Nova/ SCI FI
The Secret Circle/ Supernatural
Grimm/supernatural
Once upon a time/supernatural
Bedlam/Supernatural/ghost/horror
Hopefully some of them will stick.
Did any of you watch the Nine Lives of Chloe King? Not really sci-fi but I really liked it, a bit hokey in a Kyle XY type of way but worth watching. Hope it dosen't get canceled.
Oh! I hadn't heard about Grimm or Once Upon a Time. (These networks seem to spy on each other sometimes, LOL.)I'm looking forward to The Secret Circle (I'm a Vampire Diaries fan, I admit.)
And Doctor Who's back on! It did have a romance--Amy and Rory. They even married and...oh, spoilers there. I'm hoping the BBC's Primeval returns to BBCA. There were romances there too. Abby/Conner and a few others at various stages.

I loved Roswell! <3
Anime shows:
Cowboy Bebop (sort of like Firefly)
Darker than Black
Gundam Wing (space opera-like)
I'd like to see Texhnolyze, Ergo Proxy, and Tytania. I would see the highly rated Toward the Terra, but I can't stand the art, LOL.
