I like wearing sporty styles like short shorts and tank tops. Normally I have a sort of emo look about me out of school when I'm dressing like myself. I'm not emo but I like skinny jeans, too and black lace. And red looks good on me so I wear a lot of red and black together. I wear a lot of gold too and blue. I like wearing preppy styles sometimes too but other then that I have my own unnameable style with comfortable shoes, a shirt that draws attention, shorts that show off my legs, and lots and lots of color. I like being colorful :)
I dress preppy, with a slight spin of my own. I really like this (THE TRUE) definition of preppy:"preppy" has come to mean the opposite or "punk" or "goth"-meaning unoriginal and stuck up, which is completely unfair to the true meaning of preppy.
(so yes, those of you who define preppy as:LOVES A+F, PINK, MAKEUP,MAKING FUN OF GOTHS and CHEERLEADING!!!!! are wrong)
the definition:
"preppy" is a lifestyle; that of many well-to-do and often "waspy" families of New England and New York; most preppy teenagers have been preppy since birth; have attended private/boarding schools in New England all of their lives; enjoy sophisticated, lifelong sports such as (but not restricted to)tennis, sailing, skiing, and golf. Many live in classically preppy areas such as New Canaan, CT; the North Shore, MA; Westchester County, NY; and Greenwich, CT. Many also have second or third homes in Vermont for skiing, or Nantucket/Block Island/Cape Cod for summers.
Many are legacies at boarding schools/colleges in the North East, many are talented but party as hard as they work; Most are old money (see wasp) but there are "nouveau riche" preps who may prefer more modern customs (ie. abercrombie etc) than the timeless classics of the "wasp" lifestyle.
Preppy clothing designers include (but are not limited to):
Lilly Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren, Petit Bateau, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Patagonia, Birkinstock, Brooks Brothers, Lacoste, C.K. Bradley, L.L. Bean, the North Face, etc.
Preppy Designers do NOT include:
Abercrombie and Fitch, Express, American Eagle, The Limited, Guess, Aeropostale, etc.
HOWEVER: preppy items may be found at many of these locations (ex: nantucket red girls chinos at American Eagle)
Preppy (girls) essentials include:
ribbon belts, minimal makeup (or better, none), minimal hair styling, pearls, oxfords, polos, chinos, birkinstock clogs, sauconys, headbands, cableknit sweaters, brightly colored pants, cropped pants, jack rogers sandals, lilly pulitzer sundresses, longchamp/herve chapelier/vineyard vines/ll bean totes, patagonia fleeces, reef sandals, JCrew bathing suits, rainbow sandals,moccasins/topsiders, and many more.
preppy (boys) essentials include:
brightly colored baseball hats, rainbow sandals, Ralph Lauren polo shirts (in ALL colors- the brighter the better), nautical rope bracelets, nantucket red khakis, messy/unkempt hair (or minimal styling), other brightly colored khakis/shorts, crewneck sweaters, flannel/plaid oxfords, rope belts, striped ties, vineyard vines ties, LL bean boots, patagonia fleeces, navy blazers + khakis, topsiders, and much more.
Haha. I think it's funny though. I do live in New England... where preppy is pretty much the norm. But it's usually the, "not correct" type of preppy. Except for the families that come just vacationing, or the people who've been here for ages.
The thing I don't do, out of that list, is the brightly colored pants. And I don't pay attention to, or care about the brand of clothing, as long as it looks nice. And it generally comes out looking preppy. And plus, I look really good in preppy clothes!
Oh! And I LOVE Birkenstocks!
But... yeah. I dress preppy, and I act a bit preppy.
They look so.... uncomfortable and flat... and they probably are uncomfortable...? Plus they look.... weird. Birkenstocks are INCREDIBLY comfy, and they look nice.
So do I. I still don't get why you say converse are better. Wait, I have a Q: Do you have narrow feet? Cause I don't... and that might explain my shoe preferance... and your own, if you have narrow feet...

That would explain it... my mom and one of my sisters has narrow feet, and they hate Berkies. They think it's uncomfortable. But for me, it's perfect.
haha. I don't. I like wearin scarves.OH! I found a pair of shoes I like more then Berkinstocks! Although I do like the Berkinstock sandals better then the Born sandals. Berkies have more arch-support, but Born shoes are soooooo comfy, and nice, and stylish!
silly bands are stupid to me, whats the point? when they are on you arm they just look like a colored rubber band with a bunch of creases in it.
well i like them because during an awkward moment i can be like oh so look at this harry potter sillyband isnt it cool? and them be like oh ya i love harry potter! and me be like wow me too!!! then them be like ur my new bff! and me be like ok! see how important sillybands are?!
Lynx wrote: "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! BIRKENSTOCKS ARE BETTER!!! Have you even worn some Birkenstocks?!"OMG!!! i LOVE birkenstocks!!!!!! there sooooooooooo comfy!
silly bands... they are giving some to whoever sells 5 items in the band fund-raiser. except the guy who showed them to us called them "band bands" yeah... cause apparently they are shaped like musical instruments
there's a clarinet one, I saw it
no, I didn't see it inside the package, someone at school was wearing it
all you could really see inside the package was a bunch of colored shaped rubber bands

YEAH!!! I LOVE them! I'm hoping to get another pair soon.
Look up Born shoes. You might like them also. They have some REALLY cute(comfy also) boots, flats, and high heels. I'm dying for a few more pairs of shoes by them....

YEAH!!! I LOV..."
i need new boots!!! i grew likie 2 shoe sizes over the summer! crazy rite!?
O.O wow. Lol. Yeah. That is crazy. How tall are you? haha. Oh, and they don't really do that type of boot. Although some of them probably are pretty warm. I just wouldn't wear them in snow all that much... but I don't know if you even get snow where you live... here's the website to the company: http://www.bornshoes.com/
wow... your mom is short. lol. And I'm in 10th grade. I'm taller then my mom also. haha. By a full... half an inch!
