Gone With the Wind Fans discussion

I read Road to Tara: The Life of Margaret Mitchell a few months ago and enjoyed it, but it's more of a pop-biography that straight-up history. She does not even include a bibliography. So, out of curiosity, I started reading Southern Daughter: The Life of Margaret Mitchell and am really enjoying this one, too. Also, there are apparently many errors in Road to Tara, so I'm glad I'm reading this one now.

Pyron (author of Southern Daughter) points out that there is very little scholarship on Mitchell, which is a shame considering how hugely successful GWTW was (and still is). His biography is more like a combination of literary criticism and history, which I really love.

Has anyone else read biographies about her? Are there others that are better?

I agree! I just finished Marianne Walker's well documented book and could not put it down. It is a fascinating read, lots of details regarding the evolution of GWTW and MM's reaction to her fame.
