I finally finished the Pulitzer Prize winning biography of Peter the Great by Robert K. Massie (who wrote two incredible Romanov books). It took me about 6 months to get through the whole thing, but it was well worth it. It gave me a much better understanding of Russian history and a better perspective of how the nation progressed after his reign. I highly recommend!

Marjorie Van | 53 comments I also read that book. I loved it. I went to Peterhof and saw the upper room where Peter used to use a telescope to look West....( I imagine to watch for the Swedes). What a place. This room is exactly as he left it. And in the Winter Palace his death mask is on display. The whole history is so fascinating. I read a book....Michael and Natasha...about Nicholas's brother. Kerensky said he would have made an excellent constitutional monarch...but of course it was too late. Thanks, Nicky!!!!
