Here's the place for discussing A Knight's Tale starring Heath Ledger. I'll be adding my own comments after the weekend, as this film was one of my suggestions. Happy viewing!

I plan to re-watch too. Yes, I agree it is a fun movie. And glad we got to enjoy Heath Ledger's talent during his short life.

Em (emmap) I remember going to the cinema to see something else but since it had sold out I went to see this instead, I didn't know a thing about it but I absolutely loved it! Extremely funny - I loved Heath Leger and Paul Bettany also - both excellent. I've seen it several times since, it always cheers me up.

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 226 comments Fun movie. I called this one of the many films that combine history with modern day montages.

Jennifer Gentry (authorjennifergentry) | 97 comments Paul Bettany's character, Geoff, absolutely cracks me up! From his most astute beginnings with them, to his long-winded speech at the tournament (to give William time), he had me laughing all throughout the movie. I also loved the whole, "It's called a lance..." conversation. Funny!

I love that you all enjoyed the comedy here--it's one of the best parts about the film! XD I LOVE the bit where Geoff is praising Will after his first win in the sword arena and the audience doesn't understand him, so Roland prompts the crowd to cheer with "Yeah!"

You all have mentioned the other great thing as well: the performances. Heath is leading man material all the way, I'm so sad he's gone, and Bettany is just charm personified. My copy is the Extended Cut DVD and it has a few scenes added in, and the additional footage features a lot of him. It's all great--a lot of humor, and the added scene where the group defends Will as he's in the stocks lets Bettany really show what he can do emotionally. It's amazing. These scenes might be in the deleted scenes on the other version DVD and I highly recommend seeing them whichever way you can!

It's funny, there are anachronisms in this film, just like in Marie Antoinette, but somehow they fit in with the comedy better here and you just accept them. I also love the soundtrack here--Queen, David Bowie, AC/DC! Fun, fun, fun film from beginning to end!

Susan (soconnor031) I loved this movie. It's been a while since I've actually watched it though. Think I might need to watch it soon. I love how they took an old theme and put modern music, such as Queen, to it.

Heath Ledger was amazing (I hate that I must say was)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) I enjoyed the movie also, Heath was amazing.

Sandysconnected | 10 comments I actually enjoyed this film in spite of myself! I didn't think I would, since at the time Heath Ledger was "all the rage" and I didn't see what the big deal was. But, he performed well and I love movies from this genre, esp comedy. I am one of those people who find it sad that his life ended so soon because he had so much to offer the entertainment industry.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) I so agree with you, Sandysconnected. He was just starting his career in terms of what his acting range could have been. But we still can see his movies.

Denisa Dellinger | 44 comments I am writing this in 2011 and Heath, a very talented young actor has passed away. I saw A Knight's Tale and loved every minute of it. I saw it several times in the theater and on cable. I loved him in "The 10 Ten Things I Hate about You". It was based on the Taming of the Shrew. He had black hair in that film.I think Knight's tale had great music, even though it was contemporary rock, it worked. Jousting and the games of antiquity could be thought of as today's soccer, or any other modern sport. The film contained everything that makes a great story. Romance, action, villians. humor, and the good guy wins in the end. I think I will try to buy the extended version. I am so sad that Heath passed away. He had everything to live for. He loved that little girl of his and he would not have left her for the world. Whatever happened, I will always believe it was an accident.

Rose (plainsrose) | 4 comments A great movie. Loved how all the characters joined together to help each other. The love letter was a wonderful group effort.
