100 Books Challenge discussion

It's a good book. I'm enjoying reading it. It teaches us that physical appearance isn't everything. The world does not depend on what others think about you. There are times that we should be just ourselves. :DAfter reading this I'm gonna read The Lord of the Rings series. It's in the list, right?
I think so. i bought it (Lord of the Rings) the book with all of them in about a year ago and I still haven't got around to reading it yet.
Perfect Chemistry is a good book, and if you like it, you should also read Leaving Paradise by the same author. Right now, I'm reading Poison by Sara Poole. I picked it up cause it reminds me a bit of Poison Study by Maria Snyder, and I miss that series. =]
Nearly half way, he has just been to dinner with his dad, Mrs Kimy and Clare.
Have you read it??
Why dont you make yourself a reading challenge page?!

Haha yeah I have read it. It was interesting, but I liked Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger better. It's really good and really strange. Umm, I dont know how you make a page =P
I'm reading Macbeth w/ my son. I read everything my boys read for school so we can talk about it. Plus it keeps them on task, even if they don't like it, we can complain together. We're about to start Lord of the Flies next. I hated that book! lol. I read it w/ my older son for his class, and I'm not exactly looking looking forward to it. But a promise is a promise. I'll survive. :)
Awww, I've heard LotF is an amazing book, though I haven't read it myself. I think that is a really good idea to read with your children, not just when they are tiny...I will do that when I (hopefully) have children.
I've just finished The Color Purple and it was so amazing.
Not sure what to read next fiction wise (as usually have a fiction book and a few non-fiction going at once)...Could be Eat, Pray, Love, The Glass Castle, Persuasion, The Stuff of Nightmares or another of the tons of books I have here....

Decided to read Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and though I am only about 20 pages in, it is so interesting and I just love the style it is written in.
Yes, Nicolle, I definitely agree. I love reading w/ him. It's just frustrating that alot of the books my younger son (16) has read for school, I just read w/ my older son (now 22). And some, in my opinion, are just not worth the repeat. But it's still worth it to read w/ them. I get so much from each of them, very different takes on books.I am now reading:
Still trying to finish

I love The Hobbit! This is my 3rd time reading it! It's my son's all-time favorite and we're reading it together. Then we plan to go right through Lord Of The Rings. I haven't read all of those yet, so I'm looking forward to it! :)
I'm reading Golden Earrings. I enjoy Belinda Alexandra's historical fiction. This one is set in Barcelona and Paris. Both are cities that I have visited, so it is very cool to recognise landmarks etc...

I didn't like this book either. And I feel bad saying that since I know so many people love it. And it is a classic, I just don't know why. :\
I read it 15 years ago in high school (gosh, that makes me sound old!) and didn't much like it then, but will re-read it sometime in the future to see if I interpret it differently.
I didn't read it when I was in high school. I'm not sure why, my class just didn't. I read all the books my boys read for school, so I read it for the first time, a few years back when my oldest read it in high school. I hust hated it...hated the character! I thought he was so self centered! I'm probably going to have to read it again with my younger son...and I'm dreading it! :\
SOOO not reading a book on my list...not too sure why I wouldn't have added it, but I did get to cross one off....hoping to get more crossed off as the year goes!!

. So far I'm enjoying them all. I guess I'm in the minority here, I like Catcher in the Rye. :)
You are a real mulit-tasker Carrie!! One classic which is reasonably difficult to read is enough for me at one time.

. Really enjoying N&S & The Crystal Shard (love Salvatore). The other 2 are growing on me. :-)

I wish I had an answer for you, Nicolle. I have always done this. I actually have 7 or 8 on my currently reading list, but these 4 are the ones I'm concentrating on.
North & South is an audible book so that helps. Little Dorrit is an ebook and the other 2 are 'real' books. One thing that helps is they are all very different genres. It also helps when a book is difficult to get into or hard to read. I recently read one that dealt with abuse and that was difficult for me, so I would take a break from it and read something a little more fun for a while.

Nicolle wrote: "How can you guys read so many books at once??"I read a few books at once but they're all so different (only one novel at a time) and part of a routine that it's quite easy.
I read:
* A novel as my main book
* A short story in bed (sometimes a poem/section of epic poetry/short bit of non fiction as well - it's actually a pretty important part of my sleep routine to read in bed)
* One chapter of non fiction in the evening (or I try to, have been rubbish with my current book)
* A paperback non fiction book in the bath that I can dip in and out of easily.
Oh and I find it very hard to sleep without background noise so I listen to audiobooks at night, but I don't count that as reading - I only pick books I've already read so I won't wake up and spoil the story.
So currently I'm reading:
A Storm of Swords
Atlas of Remote Islands and The Arabian Nights: Tales of 1001 Nights, Volume 1 - in bed
The Classical World: An Epic History From Homer To Hadrian - in the evenings
Pirates of Barbary in the bath/drying my hair etc.etc.
and listening to the Percy Jackson series on audiobook to get to sleep.
I really don't like having more than one novel on the go at a time though. If I start reading more than one novel at once it means the first one isn't holding my interest.
