Dying For A Bite discussion

Has anyone read the Vampire Diaries? I'm wondering if it is worth the read or should I stick to the TV show?

I've read the series. I really enjoyed it. From what little I've been able to catch of the TV show, it's totally different from the books. I have to warn you though, if you decide to read them, the first few books were written in the early to middle 1990's. I'm saying that because the writing can be a little cheesy.

I recommend reading the books at some point. In my opinion the characters are better on paper than on screen. Especially Damon. So sexy and gorgeous...

I have the first two in the series, but haven't read them yet because when I got them the tv show was about to start, so I decided I'd just watch that instead.
