Think Abraham is a nod to both Bram Stoker (real name Abraham) and his original vampire hunter, Abraham Van Helsing? It's nice to see a little tribute like that written in.

That would be way too cool if it was....I never even thought of that.
Couldn't find any actual admition of this by del Toro, but you're most likely correct from the bit I read around the promo stuff. The obvious nod of course is the opening scene, but I like the character Abraham as a tribute, myself.
