WOW! I really love watching that.
If there was a DVD of it I could play in slow motion, I think I would learn it for myself!

Hi All-
For those of you as fascinated with the Georgian age as I am, you might wish to check out my recent blog posts on the Four Georges.
With the salacious tidbits I've unearthed, (adultery, bisexuality, and bigamy) I'm beginning to think I'm writing an 18th century National Enquirer!

Okay, ladies. I have a question. Just purchased Jude Devereaux's Knight in Shining Armor. Anyone read it?

Yes. Quite a few years ago. It's considered rather a romance classic.

Did you check out the reviews of it on Goodreads yet?

Yes, I did and I still own a copy of it. It is among my favorites. The entire novel enthralled me.
I really loved A Knight in Shining Armor...good time travel romance classic for me...Jude Deveraux at her best, I thought. But then, I love sex scenes...

I tend to go along with Jill's opinion on many books -we only tend to differ greatly on Georgette Heyer!
I almost recommended Beauvallet as a good pirate read but don't think she'll be crazy for it. It's rather over the top but I was very amused by it.
Have you read it R.I.?

I know she did! She nominated it for our book shelf several days ago and I posted a link to her review and shelved it for our group.

I just finished posting all the books I own that I have NOT read. What a job! I am shocked it's a whole bookshelf!
A whole new way to multi-task! Hey guys, today I tried an experiment- 60 minutes on the elliptical machine with my Kindle!
I remembered MISFIT mentioned a while back that does the treadmill while reading. I thought I could never handle such a balancing act, until I noticed a "lip" on the elliptical that is perfect to prop my Kindle. I also avoid having to wear my reading glasses by increasing the font setting. I got the best workout in a long time and got to catch up on reading as well!

Phobic Dawn - Katy Walters.
Loved it.
C.J. I'm glad you agree! I'm traveling on vacation now and missing my quiet minutes cycling away with a book in one hand....I also notice in the airport bookstores that romantic historical fiction sure does take up a lot of shelf space....Shelley

Emery, I just discovered these beautiful videos. I'm a baroque music junkie, and I love reading an historical romance before bed to the accompaniment of period music on my iPod. Also, I always wondered how women moved around in those wide dresses. Now I can picture it much more clearly when I read books from that period. Thanks so much.

Hi Gerrie,
We are kindred spirits. I too listen to Baroque music when I read and when I write. My all time favorite pieces are Corelli's La Folia and Bach's Harpsichord Concerto in D minor which will always be the "theme song" for THE HIGHEST STAKES. I am also very fond of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto#3. Here are some of my favorite links for your listening pleasure:

Wow, Emery, what great videos. And the 3rd is my favorite of the Brandenburg Concertos (although I love all of them). I love the Bach accompaniment to your book video (which is absolutely beautifully done), and your book is on my to read pile (if it were a movie promo I'd run out and see it immediately). I love horse racing books (I couldn't get enough of Dick Francis' books) and couple that with an historical romance, what a treat. My favorites are the English Baroque composers - Handel, Boyce, and Purcell above all. I do have the Corelli concerti grossi, which I love (and the Christmas Concerto is one of my favorites), and I want to add more Vivaldi to my collection. Bach, of course, is in a class by himself, and I like anything by him. Some of my favorites (next to the Brandenburgs) are the 4 Orchestral Suites and the violin concertos. I also love Baroque vocal music, and have a number of operas, cantatas, oratorios, and the like. So you can imagine what a delight it is to read to this music. I also imagine writing to it as you do must be the same. I would think that the music so deeply immerses you in the Georgian period that it really helps you with the flow of your story and vividly recreating that era on paper.

Hi Gerrie! It truly does! I love the era and the music. I'm not familiar with Purcell or Boyce, I'll have to check them out. I love Pandora radio for that. Have you tried it? You can enter a composer and they generate a play list for you. It's great for trying new things.

Ah, the Brandenburg Concertos...I wrote almost every paper during my university years at Univ. of Rochester, sitting in the stacks with my little cassette player and headphones, playing them as I wrote.Strangely enough, I can't listen to them when I'm writing fiction; only non-fic or analytical essays.
They remain my go-to music, though, for quiet relaxation and meditation. Thanks for the links. I haven't listened for a while and could use a boost. :)

I am looking for a recommendation for a general place/time period: Scotland/Wales either 17th or 18th century. I loved Outlander (read multiple times), but not that whole series. I'm looking for a summer read that captures a similar feel for adventure, history, and romance.I also loved The Winter Sea, Susanna Kearsley, set in Scotland 1708 and present day. So, I'm looking for a "if you liked that, you'll like this" kind of answer. Thanks in advance.
