Does it bother anyone how weak of a girl Hatsumi is? I feel like she should be a stronger character who can stand up for what she wants.

There is a novel called Hot Gimmick S which is an alternate story, made she's a stronger character in that.
Hatsumi is the meek and mild-mannered middle child of the Narita family. Average and unassuming, Hatsumi does what she can to make living in the company housing complex that her family occupies as smooth as possible. However, things start to go downhill when, on a mission to help her sister, Hatsumi gets caught by the complex's reigning brat-prince!
Threatening to expose her and her family unless she concedes to being his "slave," Hatsumi now finds herself having to kow-tow to her old childhood enemy: Ryoki Tachibana! To make matters worse, Azusa (an old childhood friend), has moved back in with his father and is living at the complex again. Now a famous model, Azusa sets his sights on Hatsumi and our heroine quickly finds herself falling in love. In the meantime, Shinogu (Hatsumi's older brother) doesn't approve of the way that Ryoki or Azusa seem to be glomming onto his sister lately...or could it be that he's hiding his own jealous feelings?
Will Hatsumi be able to continually fend off Ryoki's advances and still protect her family? Will Azusa no longer like her if he finds out what she's gotten herself into? Will Shinogu ever admit to himself the feelings he has for his own sister!?
