Squirrelpaw yawned, stretching in the apprentices den. Light came into the den, and she stood, feeling refreshed and ready to train. ((Someone please make her a mentor!))
((Well...I guess Dawnstar can be her mentor.))
Dawnstar padded out of her den, glancing around the camp.
Dawnstar padded out of her den, glancing around the camp.
((YAY!))Squirrelpaw padded out of her den, and spotted Dawnstar. "Hey, Dawnstar!" She called, running over to meet her mentor.
whitespot padded out of the warriors den and went to get some food.
Dawnstar glanced up at the sky through the trees. "We'll practice your hunting skills today. Does that sound good?"
Starpelt stretched in the sunlight, and began to groom her black pelt with white speckles.
Savita wrote: "Dawnstar glanced up at the sky through the trees. "We'll practice your hunting skills today. Does that sound good?"""Yes!" Squirrelpaw mewed, excitedly.
Starpelt yawned and decided to go hunting. She padded out of camp.
Dawnstar flicked her tail, glad that her apprentice was so eager. "Let's go now." Turning, she raced out of the camp, breathing in the scents of the forest.
Willowheart sat in the shade of a tree.
Savita wrote: "Dawnstar flicked her tail, glad that her apprentice was so eager. "Let's go now." Turning, she raced out of the camp, breathing in the scents of the forest."Squirrelpaw was much smaller than Dawnstar, but kept up, mostly. She was pretty much silent, padding softly but quickly through the forest.
Dawnstar held out her tail to halt Squirrelpaw, indicating a squirrel nosing it's way around a tree.
Squirrelpaw froze, as the scent of warm squirrel hit her full on. Her mouth started watering instantly, and she crouched, ready to spring at the plump mouse obliviously climbing down.
Dawnstar narrowed her eyes at the apprentice. Quietly reaching out, she rested her paw lightly on Squirrelpaw's waving tail.
Squirrelpaw lowered her tail, but continued staring at the squirrel. The mouse hadn't noticed anything, and continued to nose around the tree. Squirrelpaw glanced up at her mentor, but only for a moment. Her concentration was focused on the squirrel, but only with the senses of sight and smell. Her ears she kept pricked and alert for a sign of danger.
Dawnstar nodded at her. Her ears twitched slightly, pulling in the sounds of the forest. Whenever you're ready...
The mouse turned it's back to them, and Squirrelpaw leaped, claws unsheathed, on the mouse. It struggled for a moment, but Squirrelpaw had it by to firm a grip. It gave one last, shuddering breath and died. "I got it." Squirrelpaw mewed quietly, before picking up the mouse.
A glitter of amusement sparked in Dawnstar's eyes. "Okay, hunt for a little bit. I've got something to take care of."
Squirrelpaw nodded again, her face serious, but excitement glittering in her eyes. She bounded away, tail high and extremely visible.
Squirrelpaw scented a mouse, and slowly put down her kill. She saw the small brown thing, not very plump, maybe enough to feed an apprentice. The mouse looked up at her, and she remembered to move her tail down. Too late, she pounced, and the mouse scampers away.
When she pounced, Starpelt killed it with a swift blow to the neck.
Squirrelpaw bounded back and retrieved her mouse, deciding it was good enough. She flew back towards the camp as fast as she could, passing Starpelt on the way.
Starpelt blinked in surprise as Squirrelpaw flashed past her. She shrugged and scented the air for more prey.
Squirrelpaw bounded into camp, looking around for Dawnstar. When she didn't see her, she padded towards the Elders den, since she was sure at least one of them was hungry.
Dawnstar padded quietly into camp, her recent revelations from the Twoleg place still bothering her. She dropped the squirrel on the fresh-kill people, noticing Squirrelpaw's tail waving by the Elder's den.
((I'm adding that tail to her profile!))Squirrelpaw turned around, spotted Dawnstar, and pelted towards her.
Dawnstar rolled her eyes, but her whiskers fluttered in amusment. She could always count on her apprentice to cheer her up when something was worrying her.
((I might vanish...))
((I might vanish...))
Dawnstar flicked her tail. "It's nothing," she lied, quickly changing the subject. "Have you fed the elders?"
Dawnstar nodded. "Good. Check on the queens, will you? I'm worried that this heat will get to them..."
((Well, I made a queen.))
Sparrowsong looked up from cleaning Lightkit. "Squirrelpaw! It seems it's been a moon since I've seen you."
