Backgroundstory: Katarine, or Kat, is a direct decentant of two of the five original witches, one on her mom's side, another on her dad's. When she was seven, her parents were killed by the Matels, humans who knows about and hates the Golden World. This has caused Kat to despise mortals. She seeks revenge on the Matels. She now lives with her aunt Camille, and though they fight a lot and though Camille despairs of Kat's behaviour, they love each other.
Other: Besides the basic witchpowers, Kat has the power to create, summon and control lightning. She's also the only known witch to have the feared shadowpower. It is the ability to control, summon and talk with, shadows.

Background story: There once were four powerful Faeries on earth. They fighted over power for centuries, until one of the male Faeries came up with a solution. They would spilt the powers four ways. Lucas would be king of the Summer Court. The Summer holds the unique power of fire, light, and the power to make things that grew from the earth bloom and give life to them. Faeries from the Summer Court are happy and partiers. They flirt and love quite easily, but they are as passionate and violent as a Summer Storm and the Sun. Diane was Queen on the Winter Court. That court controls ice and Winter's chill and wind. The Fey from this court cold and aloof. They are pretty much loaners that enjoy the cold. Drake was king of the Dark Court. The Dark Court sucks the emotions out of mortals to feed their fey. They often torture mortals to feed themselves. They eat emotions. The Dark Court fey are violent and bloodthirsty, but they never start trouble. Destiny was be the Queen of all three of the courts. She holds the most power and can easily kill another ruler of one of the courts. She has the court of knowledge, the arts, and the ability to see paths into the future. Her court is seperated by the mortal world by a very thin veil. Solidary Fay. They don't belong to any court.

So in this way, the powers remained equal for the three courts (Destiny's court is higher than theirs, because she lives in her own world, while they live on earth.). There are always two Queen and Two Kings who inherit the throne of their parents. There is much discontent among the courts, but usually the three courts are friends, so to outrule the Court of destiny.

Skye and Tania Mac are daughters of Destiny and Drake. Skye has taken over the court of her mother and Tania took over the court of her father. Skye is the Queen of the Light Cour(knowledge/Destiny's court not actually light) and Tania is Queen of the Dark Court. (This means that the Winter and Summer courts are ruled by men, who may or may not be married.)
