I just finished Angelology....I had really high hopes for this even though it didn't get great reviews...it has a beautiful cover and I thought the idea was interesting and would be an exciting read...not so much....way to wordy and slow...many parts not believeable even in the context of the story...some dialougue seemed out of place...terrible ending...2.5 stars.

These gorgeous new covers are death to my wallet!!!

I know.....I swear right up until the end I was still hopeful that something would happen that was great and make it all worthwhile.....didn't happen.

I looked into Angelology too out of interest and it surprises me that 99% of the reviews are bad. Won't be picking that one up I'm afraid!

Time for me to post Angelology to Paperbackswap before no one well request it :P

It sort of fits, quite a difficult book to bolt a title onto.

I finished Mockingjay and was so disappointed with the ending. Collins had my attention up to a point and then from there it was lost. Its like she got tired and just threw together a quick ending.

I also was a little disappointed Nadia but I wasn't sure if it was because it was over or because it just was such a sour ending. I do think it was a bright ending though. Anyone that lives though war is left with damages not sunny happy endings.

I adored The hunger games trilogy also, it was a thrilling ride! And so many young teens are talking about them I have had so many conversations with my friends kids that read the series its a great ice breaker with them.

I got threw my kindle app and I thought the whole idea of the book was neat.A girl's boyfried kills her and hides her body and she can't locate it. So she starts to haunt her boyfriend in hopes of finding her body so that she can move on from purgatory, to either heaven or hell. I don't know if it was they way it was written or how the events in the book where placed, but I was so diappointed when I finished reading it.

The Little Giant of Aberdeen County

I read a lot of reviews about this novel that gushed about how they couldn't put it down and they loved it so much blah blah blah. I thought it was crap. So disappointing.

Crystal - I'm currently listening to The Little Giant of Aberdeen County on audio and I feel the same way. The story has been painfully slow and quite frankly, boring, but I keep plugging away at it in hopes that it will get better. If I wasn't almost finished with it, I'd be tempted to quit altogether.

I was starting to wonder if I was the only one!!!

Sarah...I didn't want to say anything earlier...was curious to see what you thought...I started this last year and never finished...took it back to the library!

I finished it, but it didn't get any better.

I am going to take that off my TBR then. To many other books on my TBR anyways so its good to cut something.

Funny though I tried to get it off my TBR and there wasn't the option to remove it?? I will try again I know I have removed them before but I can't seem to remember how. Maybe I just can't get my head clear these days!

Karla, if you go under the "my books" tab and click on your to-read list, there should be an X on the right-hand side of the page where you can click to remove the book from your list.

A few years ago, I read one of Jonathan Coe's novels, The House of Sleep, and loved it! It's one of my favorites and I gave to friends and family for Christmas that year (and everyone loved it), and since then, I've read several of his other books, but was always (except one) disappointed with them! They never match House of Sleep! And now I've just finished Coe's first novel The Accidental Woman, which disappointed me even more than his other novels. I really didn't get it!

I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did! I read it for a lit class and as far as I remember everyone liked it except for one girl who didn't finish it... But the rest of us had fun with it :D

Ok got to admit the lit class comment scared me a little! So this is a book I hope that isn't over my head! I'm tall so maybe I'll be ok?? Just playing, but seriously this isn't a difficult read is it?

No, not at all! It's a very quick and easy read with some very funny passages! I remember the first 10-15 pages being a bit strange, but then the story really picked up.

Great thanks again! I need a dose of funny stuff yo pick up my spirits.

The Girl Who Played with Fire I expected the story to start slow and then get really exciting (as was the case 2ith Series 1) But the story was painfully slow, and had way too many characters. It was difficult keeping track of who was who. Whew! Sorely disappointed. Saw the movie version too which was lame too but at least they made the story move on quickly enough.

Oh, Ashwini, sorry you were disappointed in the final book. I agree there were so many characters, I had to have a post-it in the front of the book to keep everyone straight.

Just finished The Gargoyle, which failed to move me...

LOL ... I should have thought of that too! :D Diane, this was not the final book. Its the middle one. I hope the final does not disappoint because I cant stop myself from finishing the trilogy! :D

Ashwini, Oh, yes, you're right, I misread your post. Get your yellow stickies out for keeping track of the characters the third book if you thought the second one had a lot! :)

I read The Gargoyle last year and still have mixed feelings about it. I found it fascinating, but would not want to read it again.

Mockingjay is a bit disappointing but it is still a lovely book to read.

Santaland Diaries and the Santa Clause Chronicles. No go for me. The worst books of 2010 for me were the two new Immortals books. I couldn't finish the newest one. every time I tried I hated each character even more than I had moments before. And I already loathed them. No redeeming qualities. Too bad too, because the first two were pretty good!

Well, I just finished The Gargoyle, and unfortunately, I have to post it under this thread.

Good review. I hate it when huge chunks of a book are from another one, supposedly to fill in the blanks, but really just to pad the page count.

Haha, I love the way you wrote this, I'm getting better at not continuing books that I cant get into, I know some get better but most don't so it depends but I don't feel bad, no time to waste, too many other things to read.
