I haven't read it but I watched the movie and if the book is anything like the movie then I love it :DI agree with you that it could be considered a classic. I know I haven't read it but the feel the story gave me sounds lika good classic children's book.
I've read the book (long ago) and seen the movie (recently), and the book is definitely better.I'd say that a children's book that is over 30 years old and being taught in schools today would qualify as a 'classic' to me. But I might be biased. = )
Bridge to Terabithia is one of my favorite books of all time. My teacher read it to us in middle school and I have never forgotten it. The book is 100x better than the movie.Another great one - Island of the Blue Dolphins.
The book is over 20 years old. That's classic enough for me. I loved the book, but hated the ending. Very upsetting.
Ugh I hated the movie because I cried so much. I have never read the book and I probably won't because I would cry again. I am sure the writing was great and I can already tell from the movie that the plot was amazing but I CANNOT DO IT. Too much saddness! It is making me sad just thinking about it . . . *sobs*
Yeah, I totally was choking up at the end of the book! I hate to say that sad books make great classics... but they totally do! I'm glad you guys agree with me! :)
Bridge to Terabithia does make a great book to discuss with students. I did a discussion with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students two years ago and it was a very enjoyable afternoon. I would consider this book a "classic."
The book was amazing, but the ending was so unexpected and sad that I ran around ranting about it for days. I read the book before I saw the movie. While watching the movie I kept muttering to myself "Oh, they look so happy now, but just wait...". Still a great book.
Here's what I learned from Bridge to Terabithia: Even if you're reading a book and you really dislike it, there can be a sudden turn of events that will cause you to be really, really glad you read it when you're done. The movie, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. But isn't that the case with most books made into movies?
I think "Bridge to Terabithia" is a classic children's book. To me a classic book is one that makes you see the world in a different way and stays with you the rest of your life. And when you reread a classic book at any age, you still gain a new perspective. That is why although I enjoyed the Harry Potter books, I don't view them as being classics. They were entertaining, but there wasn't anything more to them.
