I love love love this series. This is one of my top 5 PNR series!! My fave is Demon from the Dark, as Jenese said in the other thread.I do have to admit that I didn't love it in the beginning. Maybe b/c I started with prequel. But after reading A Hunger Like No Other, I was hooked.
One thing that I love about this series is how each Immortal has a special way to determine who their mate is. For example, a Lycan can smell who their mate is, a vampire's heart will start beating for the first time, and a demon's sperm will finally ejaculate (giggling, I love this one).
Also, I love how these different immortals are all connected in some way through their mates and you will read that throughout the series.
If you like PNR, this is definitely a series to check out!
Yep, this is a great series. Sexy, funny, witty and packed with action! Love it. I love the werewolfs.....Lachlain, Bowen, and Garreth's books have been my favorites.
Also most of the books are stand alone and can be read without reading the others first. For instance, I had no clue...*giggles* and actually found
at a Walgreens or CVS and it was the only interesting book so I got it and was hooked. So I went back and read the rest. Although there is reference to other characters you don't get the feeling of being completely lost.
Garreth was my fav, next came Cadeon and Rydstrom. But...after
Malkolm had bumped everyone down one. lol I <3 Malkolm! :)
Geeze People... How am I ever gonna get through all these books. Lol. Good thing I'm no longer working, and all 3 boys are in school.. This is awesome though.. Keep the threads, and recommendations coming.
I still feel that Lachlan's and Bowen's books are the very best. I also liked Cadeon (which I didn't expect as I was not interested in him in the beginning!). I had been waiting hard for Garreth but I wasn't too happy about it and I still have not ordered Demon from the Dark. What I gathered from Cole's website it's Regin next and here I might cave in again - I like her character a lot.
Okay these sounds great... so many books and just not enough time :) I do have a question. Should i start with
or can i start with
? They have the last one at my Library. Thanks Ladies!

, comes out on Feb 15th and I can't wait!!
I remember starting Dark Hunters with book 1 and not the prequel and had a "what the heck?" moment when a couple of characters were in the story and it seemed like I was supposed to know who they were. I ended up catching on, so I didn't "need" to have read the prequel, but almost wish I had before. Is it sort of the same situation with this series or is it really a no big deal type of thing?

You are going to be a bit confused though, just b/c it's a new world with many different immortals learn about. But other than that, you would be fine just starting A Hunger Like No Other.
I read Fantasy Lover of the Dark Hunter series and that was one of those series that I didn't continue b/c of how badly I hated it. People tell me I should give the next book a try but I just haven't gotten around to it.
This is a series I haven't started b/c I hate the premise of the first book (kidnapped woman falls for captor) -- am I making too much of this?
Leea wrote: "okay thanks Ladies!! I starting to feel overwhelmed with so many good books to read..."i know the feeling
No you must fallow your own feelings. This does not bother me for some reason - might be because i've read so many Highlander takes beautiful women novels :)

Don't go by the first book they do get much better (The Dark Hunter series) that was actually isn't the first real book it just introduces you to some of the future characters that she continues with.

I will have to pick up the next book someday. There are just so many other books on my TBR list!
When comparing book 1 of Kenyon's League series to her Dark Hunter series, I enjoyed book 1 of League SO much more. I really enjoyed that one.
I've read the first two and really enjoyed them. The closest I can compare it to would be a BDB type of series, but instead of the warriors being vamps, they're space assassins.
Fun! They sounds good. I almost bought one at my local used books store but was just not sure... now i wish i had bought it!! Add it to my ever growing list of books to read :)
I want to try them but like Kay I got so many on my tbr list , I also wanna do a reread of Dark Hunters again thats a lot of books lol
Yeah it gets crazy. I'm starting to get pickier and picker about what I read too. Most everything I read now is either by an author I really like, comes highly recommended by someone that specifically knows my reading tastes, is part of a series I'm following, or fits into a reading challenge (this is pretty much the only place that allows me to fit new books or authors into my rotation).I've been burned too much lately by books that look interesting but really aren't.
I am ashamed to say I haven't read the prequel yet either but I have it to read gonna squeeze it in some time.
I can't wait! Dreams of a Dark Warrior comes out tomorrow! Anyone planning on reading this soon? I will definitely try to start this tomorrow!
Just read
and loved it... I was hard to get into this world but i can tell that i will catch on quick. So i'm going to start
today :)
Yay, Leea!!! I'm so glad you liked it!! The books only get better and better. I finished
earlier this week and it was great.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but the long-awaited book (I think it's #12 in the series) starring the deliciously wicked Lothaire is scheduled to come out Jan 2012! I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for it!
I am currently reading A Hunger Like No Other, and I am loving it thus far. I think I am getting hooked on another series. lol Which book is Bowe's?
This is such a great series. I love the MacRieve's. Susan, you only have a few more and then its Bowen's book....although, Garreth MacRieve's book is one of my favs!!

Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series is one of my favorite PNR series of all time. :) Each book does end with a HEA so it would be PNR, but there is lots of action and adventure in all of them. All of the heroes are super hot and the heroines are all bad ass.
This is the series. Deep Kiss of Winter is a book she wrote with Gena Showalter, the IAD story is called "Untouchable"
There is also a prequel in
Here is a description of the series on her website:
Every creature or being that was thought to be mythical . . . isn’t.
They all secretly exist alongside humans and enjoy the gift of immortality. There are hundreds of different kinds: from Vampires to Lykae, from Furies to Shifters, from the Fey to Valkyries.
These immortals call their world The Lore.
You may have had a brush with one of Lorekind already. The eccentric billionaire with hypnotic charisma—and an aversion to sunlight. The ethereal waif of impossible beauty—whose fingernails look more like claws. The Highlander with a seventeenth-century Scottish accent and animal magnetism—who can never be penciled in on the night of the full moon.
They walk among us, but they war among themselves. Each faction has its strengths, weaknesses, and age old prejudices against the others. Every five hundred years, the Accession, a battle for supremacy, rages. That time is now. . . .
