SmittenKitten | 129 comments Joeera, if you have not read A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole yet, I'd recommend putting that one at the top of your TBR list... it makes my list for top 10 paranormal romances... it's very good, with some humor mixed in too.

SmittenKitten | 129 comments Sometimes I scavenge the local goodwill/thrift stores for book deals, and during lunch today I found The Devil Who Tamed Her and bought it... but then I realized I already own it.. I hate when that happens... I just have too many books to keep track of!

I also recently bought The Proud Breed by Celeste De Blasis because the reviews on amazon for it are amazing.. 43 5 star ratings out of 44 total.

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) | 551 comments Mod
The proud breed is SO good!! also her triolgy Wild Swan Swan's Chance A Season of Swans

message 12: by SmittenKitten (new)

SmittenKitten | 129 comments Woohoo!! I just found a USB near me yesterday with decent prices of about $2-3 per book and a huge inventory!! I ended up buying a ton of books... here are the two pirate/ship captain ones I bought:
Ransom of the Heart
Desire's Storm

*Neither of these have covers posted on goodreads, so I will probably scan & upload the cover... I hate it when no cover is posted. :-)

Some authors I ended up buying: Janelle Taylor, Day Taylor, Claudia Dain,Shannon Drake (aka Heather Graham), and Meagan McKinney.

I bought way too many books to post them all up here... cause it would be embarrassing LOL ;-)

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 89 comments Mod
I wish there was an awesome used book store here! I don't mind buying used books at all, as long as they are in good condition. I'll have to research. There's gotta be one somewhere!

message 18: by SmittenKitten (last edited Sep 29, 2010 10:07PM) (new)

SmittenKitten | 129 comments I had been looking for a UBS for months!! There is one just a few miles from my house, but it charges 1/2 the cover price, no matter what the condition of the book is.. so most mass market paperbacks are $4 there, and it did not carry older books. Then I got smart yesterday... I typed in "book" in my GPS and then this USB popped up in the middle of the ghetto.. but it is totally awesome!

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) | 551 comments Mod
I have UBS like that near me too..charges 1/2 the cover price & DO NOT take older books..Joeera is getting me some good UBS that she knows when she comes down around me..sounds like you got quite a haul SmittenKitten...do show all!!!:)

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

What Day Taylor title did you get?

message 21: by SmittenKitten (new)

SmittenKitten | 129 comments Moss Rose - I already owned it, but the USB had a much better copy with no spine creases.

I also have The Black Swan and Bitter Eden - both bought online.

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) | 551 comments Mod

Joeera | 29 comments Firelight Read (Oct 6-8)

Jacinda lives in a world where the desendants of the dragons have evolved the ability to transform into human shape as a protection from the very humans that would hunt them down and kill them. She is also the first firer breather in her pride for more than 4 hundred years. That is not the only thing she has to worry about. Not only is the pride very pround of her, but very intrested in making sure she has lots of little draki to carry on the traditions. She feels trapped. The limitations of the pride, the fear of the hunters and she certainly isn't ready to settle down and have kids she fights, but when she is almost caught by the hunters, his just makes the pride put more pressure on her. When her mom flees with her and her sister to try and save her,Jacinda only feels more trapped.Trying to adjust to a normal high school with normal people. Will the one guy who could make it all worthwile for her might be the most dangerous of all.

Firelight was absolutely stunning i was breathless from the begining.Firelight ws such a vivid book-the colors and characters seem to pop right off the page and take you for a ride right along with them Jacinda and will were my favorite. Can't waite for the next book

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 89 comments Mod
I almost bought it today at Borders, Joeera! It sounds amazing! I refrained, though, because I can get it cheaper on Amazon. I'm glad you loved it!

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) | 551 comments Mod
Jana have you tried thebookdepository.com ? you only have to buy one book and NO shipping! sometimes amazon is a little cheaper..but if I want only one book I order from there & their service is great!

message 28: by Joeera (new)

Joeera | 29 comments Hopefuly i can get to 13 to life before the end of the month i will let you know what i thik of the book Jana

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 89 comments Mod
Sandi, I'll have to check them out! I'm an Amazon Prime member, so I get free guaranteed 2-day shipping with no minimum purchase.

Joeera, awesome! I almost bought that one today too. :P

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) | 551 comments Mod
Wow wish they had that in Canada Jana..but here you have to spend over $39.00 to get free shipping..and if I only want one book shipping costs 6-9 dollars. so I can get the book at bookdepository for cheaper most times & free shipping!

message 31: by Joeera (new)

Joeera | 29 comments Jana let me know what you thing of Firelight when you read it

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 89 comments Mod
Wow, $39? Regular Amazon shoppers here in the USA only have to spend $25 for free shipping. I got Amazon Prime because I got a free membership for being a student. It expires in a few months, and then I'll have to spend $25 again. I've bookmarked bookdepository, though! They had some better deals than Amazon. Thanks for the recommendation!

Joeera, I'll let you know! First, I need to buy it... lol.

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 89 comments Mod
I'm really excited to read the first two you mentioned. O, Juliet was in a clearance bin at the store, so I thought it'd be a fun read. We'll have to discuss our opinions once I'm done. :)

I'm reading the one you sent me right now, and I'm loving it so far! Thanks!

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) | 551 comments Mod
I knew you would..what do you think of Julie? I love her sense of humor..& how she copes with things. dont care for her sister..and she gets worse..

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) | 551 comments Mod
Just picked up the *oldie* Beauvallet by Georgette Heyer "what happens when a pirate falls in love wth his captive?" sounds interesting enough for me!

Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl.com (miss_jana) | 89 comments Mod
Julie is great! Her sister gets worse?? Oh, dear!

Sandi, that other one looks good too! I love this group, because I keep learning of all these new pirate books!

Joeera | 29 comments 13 To life read (Oct 20-21)

I realy liked this book.I realy loved Pietr!.From the first time we meet pietr we know that this guy is weird. You know from the 3rd page what pietr was.Jess is very bright she has a hugh crush on this jock named derek. That's why she resists pietr in the beginning. Pietr hates derek because jess liked him instead of himself.I think their might be more to it.Everyone kept telling jess that derek was evil.Pietr's family was quite a shock. His older brother max is funny and is older twin sister ( by 2 minutes ) is really nice. Alexi (sasha) is the guaradian of the family. He is also the oldest. His parents died a year before pietr is the youngest.

I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a super sweet romance with a dark mystery

SmittenKitten | 129 comments A Borders near me is closing, so I made a trip out there today and bought a few books at 30% off, woohoo!! I tried to not go crazy and only get books that were on my wishlist. :)

Heaven, Texas (Chicago Stars, #2) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips Dream Man by Linda Howard Ruthless (The House of Rohan, #1) by Anne Stuart Reckless (The House of Rohan, #2) by Anne Stuart Breathless (The House of Rohan, #3) by Anne Stuart Forbidden Pleasure (Bound Hearts, #8) by Lora Leigh Sureblood by Grant, Susan Finders Keepers by Linnea Sinclair

I also bought the HTF Bound by the Heart by Marsha Canham for only a $1 online - I'm thinking the fact that this story recently became available as an e-book has something to do with the low price.... I'm wondering if The Wind and the Sea by Marsha Canham prices will come down as well since it's now an e-book... keep a look out!!
