So, I'm enjoying a lot of the arguments that they're bringing up in this book, but they seem so out of place in a vampire book. It's very intellectual, which I actually like, but ... I can see where Darcy got bored in the middle. I think if there were some action in the middle maybe. I'm more concerned with the vampire/fallen angel thing and their teeth. Barbs?

Yes this was exactly my problem. I got to the middle part and got so bored with it that I didn't finish it. All the debates and stuff were interesting and something new, but not enough to engage me. Also, not sure if it was with this book but I think it switched between limited third person POV and first person POV, and I hate when that happens.
I would have been fine with the more academic approach if I had gotten into the characters too. It felt like I needed one or the other, but both wasn't working.
