Melissa (mejojac) | 50 comments I'm hosting our local book club in November and am struggling to come up with a book. I've read lots of great books, but nothing is really jumping out at me. I was wondering if you had any suggestions? Anything that is great for discussion? It doesn't have to be a deep book, just something that's easy to converse about for an hour or so... some books just aren't that way, you know? And, of course, I'd like to keep it clean :) Thanks!

NovelReaction | 7 comments My club read The Secret Garden and I got British scones and treats from a British bakery, it was fun to revisit a book many had read in their youth but hadn't touched for years and to have the themed treats.

Victoria | 5 comments I have read a lot of good books lately, I enjoyed "Flecks of Gold" by Alicia Buck. I borrowed it to my mum and she is enjoying it too- and recommending it to her book club.

I might also suggest "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner. His second book to this series is coming out soon.

"Incarceron" by Catherine Fisher is another very intriguing book, the 2nd book to this one will be released in the US in December. Both books were released in the UK several years back.

I have more I would recommend, these are all clean and safe for young readers, and enjoyable for adults too. (I have teens and an almost 21 year old, and my mum is 66 and we all enjoyed them :) )

Holly Weiss (hollyweiss) Any animal lovers here? I just finished Soul of a Lion. Beautiful non-fiction about an animal refuge in Africa. Very cute photos of some of the rescued animals.

Becca | 24 comments I would also recommend Finnikin of the Rock. Fairly clean read and incredible story. Some parts reference inhumane acts, but if you don't know what they are, all you know is they are ugly, nothing graphic at all and the references didn't even bring anything to mind for me.

Mike Jay (themaninthebarn) | 1 comments Have a look at Big Big Secrets by Robert Arley.
Delightfully funny fantasy about a science teacher accidentally reduced to the size of a Barbie doll.

Elizabeth (emarsh13) Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a beautiful book, and a really quick read. Another fun one, especially when people don't have time to think, is The Princess Bride. Loved it!
