I feel Lyric plays an important role as he is the one who shows Ava that life does go on and there are other choices she could be making.
I felt as though Lyric reminded Ava that there are other loves to be had, that while Jackson was, up to that point, the love of her life, her story hasn't ended with Jackson. Jackson was just a chapter, albeit, a very important and significant chapter in her life, but there are other characters to be introduced and she owes it to herself to keep living, to see how the story will end.
Lyric to me was that one thing that still helped Ava into knowing what a real relationship is. If he wasn't there Ava could've got a mental disorder like cutting or something. I thought at first Jackson was just a jerk but then in the end he makes her feel better and thats when I really started to cry. She should always remember Jackson, but maybe give Lyric a chance.
I liked Ava's final decision about Lyric. It was wise, I think, that she chose to get herself straightened around, that she wanted to take time to find herself before jumping into a relationship. In her relationship with Jackson, she lost herself, and that was long before he died.
I liked Lyric. He's the one that helped her see that life can go on. And at first I was surprise with her final decision about a relationship with Lyric, but after thinking about it, she made the right choice for everyone in this story.Plus, Lyric is a kinda cool name. :)
Lyric was a sweet and considerate character vital to Ava's recovery. I was surprised by Ava's decision at first, but it made sense b/c she cares for her friends so much. She mentions several times how the love of her friends more than anything helps her feel safe and normal. If she would have chosen Lyric, she would have alienated herself from the group.
I like the Lyric character. I think that he did show Ava that there was more in the world and that she would be able to eventually move on.However I also thought that he brought more into the theme in the book that her friends were important. She picked her friend over him at the end and she also stated that she was happy that she was loved by her friends.

you feel at the end of the book when you learned of Ava's decision regarding Lyric?
