Hey everyone! Readathon just started 8 minutes ago! For those of you participating (even for a few hours)..what are you starting off with?

I'm starting with Catching Fire because I haven't finished the series yet (and I've managed to stay away from spoilers!) and it's so dang early and I didn't sleep much last night..so I need something easy and that I know will hold my attention!

message 4: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments I'm 50 pages in and it's a little slow, I hope the action picks up soon, I need it! I hope you're liking Catching Fire. I loved it, and it's a perfect read to wake you up!!

Richard (nemzep95) | 448 comments I'm going to start off with The Lightning Thief because it's amazing, then The Hunger Games :D.

message 7: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments Jamie-Are you going to read mockingjay next?

Richard- Good picks! I want to read Lighting Thief some day haha

I've got 100 pages left of Girl, Stolen. Must finish!!

message 8: by Emily (new)

Emily O (readingwhilefemale) | 487 comments Good luck to everyone participating! I hope you all have a wonderful time and get lots of reading done.

I was going to participate, but I'm visiting family and friends today, and I didn't want to ignore them on my first day of visiting. Maybe next time!

Ooh..Richard I loved both of those!

Kelly--After CF I'm going to switch gears and read Never Let Me Go..just to get a break and then I'll do Mockingjay!

Emily--thanks!

Guys..I'm seriously thinking about doing our OWN readathon just for this group but we can pick what hours we want to do (people can do as many as they want) and we could read for charity or something! Anybody down for this?

message 10: by Erin (new)

Erin (ersiku) Wheee, this is fun!

I LOVE the idea of doing our own readathon!

So far I've gotten through The Phantom Tollbooth and have started Something Missing and The Reader.

message 11: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments Our own readathon would be awesome. I'd love to do more of these. It's a good excuse to sit down and read, Plus I'm loving all the support from everyone! Great way to meet new people.

message 12: by Richard (new)

Richard (nemzep95) | 448 comments How often are readathons? (forgive me if this is a dumb question haha)

message 13: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments Dewey's Readathon is every April and October. Definitely not a dumb question. As of two weeks ago I didn't know either.

message 14: by Richard (new)

Richard (nemzep95) | 448 comments Okay. I was just thinking it to be an annual thing, that's why I figured it was a dumb question. But it's awesome to know it happens every 6 months! Is it a particular day or is it the whole month?

message 15: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments it's a certain day, Like today for instance!

you can find more information here. http://24hourreadathon.com/

message 16: by Richard (new)

Richard (nemzep95) | 448 comments Ohhh. I might have to do one of those on my blog :D. It'd be fun to have a monthly read-a-thon. Then again I like having special events such as this as often as possible.

SOO..my butt is hurting! I've changed positions a million times and have been all over the house and outside. Now it is dark out so I'm confined to being inside. I ask the bf what I should do to be active. He tells me to learn how to do a dance..like the Dougie dance. lol. So I find it on Youtube and find the SNUGGIE DANCE!! YES!!!

Watch this if you need a break from reading and..for real..just get up and dance! I did! I pretended I was hood and I could do the Snuggie :)

Erin (ersiku) Jamie -- love the video!! I'm starting to lose steam. My butt is doing fine, but the rest of me is sleeeeepy...

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
I'm starting to lose it too!! I don't understand it. I literally am always tossing and turning and WIDE awake until 2-3 am every day and now when I WANT to be awake I'm so deliriously tired.

message 20: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments It's got to be all that reading! I'm feeling it too, but I had a nice break where I got out and drove a bit, and it really helped! Or it could be time to get a power drink lol.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Haha I would BUT it's 1am and I'm the only person in my house so I'm not leaving the house bc I get freaked out about coming home in the middle of the night! lol

message 22: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments haha completely understand! There are some crazy people out there. ugh six in a half more hours sooooo close

message 23: by Richard (new)

Richard (nemzep95) | 448 comments I finished The Lightning Thief. I read soooo much xD. It always feels weird when you read the last chunk of book in one fell swoop (read over 100 pages of it in one sitting). Oh well, now I really have to pee.

P.S. IT WAS FRICKING AMAZING!!!!!

message 24: by Erin (new)

Erin (ersiku) Richard -- I loved that whole series! I hope you have the next ones lined up ready to go!

ALMOST DONE!!

message 26: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments So how did the readathon go for everyone?

I was going to try to unofficially participate before work yesterday but I woke up too late.

message 27: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
It went decently..I was a little disappointed because I thought I'd get more done and would stay up all night but I took a nap from 2:30am-6am. I didn't want to but I couldn't fight sleep anymore.

message 28: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments I agree with Jamie. It went well but I do wish I had read a little more. It's tricky not to get all caught up with what's happening online, so you really have to force yourself away from your computer at times!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
That was definitely a big problem for me!! It is pretty much everyday though--damn Twitter and blogs and Goodreads! lol

Guys..I'm seriously thin..."

I would be interested in it, if the group hosted one. I had a friend in from out of town totally last minute and wasn't able to participate yest :(

message 31: by Richard (last edited Oct 10, 2010 09:11PM) (new)

Richard (nemzep95) | 448 comments Erin - Yeahhh. I ordered the whole series from barnes and noble with a gift card. It ended up costing around $28. I'm sooo excited to get them in the mail :D.

It'd be awesome if the group hosted one :D. I was with my family most of yesterday, but I read a lot last night. It'd definitely be awesome if we did!

message 32: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments We should definitely have our own read-a-thon!! That would be fun!

message 33: by Richard (new)

Richard (nemzep95) | 448 comments Hellllzzzz yeah! Maybe have one the first of every month? Would that be good? I'd personally love that! Great way to start off the month :D.
